I could not have made it through two very difficult situations with out Mr. Lewis as my lawyer. With his representation both situations ended very positively. Mr. Lewis dedicated his time and energy into helping me take everything one step at a time. His office staff also was always there to help. I had no hesitation in hiring Mike for my second OWI. He kept his word, and worked his magic to push my Sentencing past Michigan's 7 year window between OWI's. Therefore, being able to plea to a first offense, which changed the outcome of my potential consequences. I was looking at 14 days in jail, among several other possible punishments. I'm grateful to be writing this from my own home, as he was successful to get me probation and the privilege of keeping my license (with restrictions, of course). With a lot of hard work, patience, and prayers, I could not have hoped for a better outcome.

In June I found myself in a situation that required legal counsel. I was under a lot of pressure to host a “Pinterest” graduation party for my daughter. There were lots of laughs, pictures and well lots of drinking…
At the end of the night I got my youngest to bed and stumbled my way to bed myself. On the way I overheard inappropriate conversation between my husband & my daughter’s friends. I told my husband to get out and the friends to go home.
Next thing I know my husband is right behind me yelling, pointing & forcing me into a corner. I went into fight or flight and needed to get away. My daughter whose graduation party it was came running up behind my husband to get him away from me. Not realizing in my attempts to get away, I pushed my daughter. She was not hurt physically. Emotionally startled and embarrassed I’m sure. I did get away into our bedroom and locked the door. My husband punched the door and entered the room. I continued to retreat to get away from him because I was terrified. I somehow was able to call 911 and they sent officers.
I cannot comprehend what the officer was thinking because I was arrested after calling for help. My husband’s lies convinced her that I assaulted him and my daughter. He even added that I racked a 9mm and “almost” pointed it at him…
I was arrested & in jail for the night. I started to panic & was terrified about potentially losing my job and/or licensing through the state in addition to losing my CPL & 2nd amendment rights.
I was initially charged with felony felonious assault and a few other things that I do not recall.
I started looking & researching who to hire to sort this mess out.
I had talked to a dozen attorneys & all I heard were the same lines- like a salesman working for commission. A few of them sat ok with me. But that was the problem… they were ok. When there is so much on the line mediocre is not what I was willing to accept.
I reached out to a trusted attorney that I had worked with previously on a civil matter from Warner Norcross + Judd. He referred me to Michael Bartish. I began digging into reviews & searching for articles about him. I reached out to SBBL Law. It didn’t take long for Michael to return my call.
After speaking with Michael over the phone I knew he was the guy. He was direct yet empathetic. He listened to what was important to me and the fears I had. He was reassuring without over promising any sort of result. He never said any of the lines I’d heard from the previous attorneys who seemed to not be genuine.
Over the course of about 2 months Michael walked me through the process, explained everything so that I understood. I could feel he was vested in this fight with me from our first court appearance. His presence and confident demeanor brought me peace at some of the most emotional times I had faced in a long time. Michael included me in every aspect of the case and looked to me to make the decisions on plea deals that were offered. He supported my decision to go to trial. He still never promised a winning result but his confidence gave me the confidence to fight this.
I had never watched a jury selection. The jurors likely never were jurors before. Watching Michael educate the jurors while assessing their ability to be impartial for the anticipated trial was nothing short of impressive. He has power in his voice & not the sort that’s disrespectful or arrogant.
At hearings Michael made clear arguments backed by law. He crushed every move the prosecution attempted. He has passion and speaks with a dominance you only see with true experience.
The prosecution dismissed the case. Any headway they attempted was shattered by Michael. It was a huge win for us! Michael and I joked that it was a bit disappointing not going to trial. Watching him in the courtroom knowing his abilities I felt it would be a sure win and it would put the prosecutor in his place even more.
If I ever need a defense attorney he 100% will be my guy!

Robert Morad was my court-appointed defense attorney in a difficult, drawn-out case for charges of home invasion and assault/battery. I could not have been luckier to be appointed to such a thorough, respectful, and professional attorney. Mr. Morad took the time to discuss details of the proceedings with me on multiple occasions, sometimes spending an hour of his time to make me feel more aware and comfortable with the situation I was facing. He was strategic in his approach of presenting evidence in my defense and managed to work out a desirable plea bargain in my case. Thanks to Mr. Morad, I did not serve any jail or prison sentence. The home invasion first-degree charge (20-year felony) was ultimately lowered to a misdemeanor of breaking & entering/illegal entry upon successful completion of a year of probation. I could not be happier with the outcome or more thankful for the representation I had with Mr. Morad, especially with my future endeavors and individual goals. Robert Morad was my attorney for my first offense DUI. I had a tough judge and he was able to bring me down from driving with intoxicated to driving while impaired. My sentence could have been A LOT worse. Overall he was an exceptional attorney and I highly recommend him. I don’t think any other attorney could have brought my sentence down as much as he did.

Poor communication. He rarely returned calls. Was retained for a post conviction case (appeal) and this attorney presented the same evidence as the trial attorney… no new evidence nor error was presented in the appellate brief….he was not prepared nor did he research the case. Very disappointed.. would not recommend.

You know in the movies when the wife hires some superstar divorce lawyer that destroys a guy in the divorce? Scott is THAT lawyer. My previously well-off uncle was working on renovations in my aunt's house after the divorce and going back to his trailer. So, when I had to fight for parental rights for my daughter, I called to ask my aunt who her lawyer was. When she said "Scott Longton", I was thrown off because he's someone I'd known as a kid and never realized he'd gone on to be this amazing lawyer. It seemed like a sign, so I hired him.
First Scott explained the law to me and showed me why my case was basically unwinnable. Next, Scott carefully repeated the exact wording in certain lines of the law and explained how we were gonna use that phrasing to win. Scott was sharp and on point the entire way and took care of everything that needed to be done. In court, he made our case seem like the only thing that made sense and the judge was clearly in complete agreement.
My daughter's mom was still married when my little girl was born. I was under the impression that they were done, but she'd run back when she got pregnant. My daughter was my twin when she was born so most people who visited at the hospital new I was the father right away. I wanted to be in my daughter's life from the moment her mother brought her to me, but her husband was making that increasingly difficult for much of her first year.
Scott changed that. He got me joint legal custody, parental rights, name change on the birth certificate, her mother and I setup every weekend parental time for me and the judge threw in that I had to be asked if I wanted to take her before my daughter goes within anyone else.
Granted, we made the mistake of trying to work out rules between she and I, which has been a rollercoaster these past 10yrs now, but Scott warned me that would happen if I didn't take his advice and have a formal sitdown to put our agreement in writing for the courts to enforce; so that's on me.
I need a criminal law attorney for a self-defense case Southgate now, and landed here on the AVVO site looking up Scott to see if it was in his experience and expertise to fight for me again.

When I began searching for a C&F lawyer, I had no idea who to choose, I googled, read reviews, and went on Reddit. And the name that kept reappearing was Tim Dinan. I decided to give him a try because I wanted someone knowledgeable, respected, and would fight for me. When I called his office, he was able to speak with me right away, we talked for a bit over the phone, and I scheduled an office visit to discuss further. Needless to say, I was worried and nervous about the entire C&F process but after talking to Tim I had a solid understanding and optimistic outlook about the future. He was direct and honest; the fact was I had an uphill climb and it was not going to be cheap. However, having an expert hold the rope and guide you while you climb and working out payment arrangements that work for both parties makes things manageable. Tim was understanding and quite relatable, and the best thing is he knows his stuff, he knows the C&F board members, and the rules and expectations they have. Ezra Goldman gave me my life back. His knowledge of the intricacies of the law is almost like a sixth sense.
