Matthew Sheasby is nothing short of amazing. I was so scared to get out of my marriage and he not only got me out, he had my back every single step of the way. My husband and I hired Mr. Flanigan to handle my in-law's estate planning prior to my mother-in-law's transition into long term care. Despite being an attorney, I had no familiarity with this area of law and we sought out Flanigan's office after several places recommended we speak with him. His staff is incredibly professional and followed up promptly, notifying us as we passed each step in the process. I went through a different attorney to create an Irrevocable trust to do what I thought was Medi-cal planning.
After about 8500 in hourly charges for this and that I was still without Medi-cal eligibility and without the support I needed to do it on my own. A social worker at Interim referred me to Mr. Philip Flanigan and said that she and others there in her office refer clients to him- that his office processes Medi-cal fast. I was happy she did. His staff was super sweet and they were so very accommodating *despite my overstressed nature*. When we got the notification from their staff that mom became eligible- I cant put into words how relieved I was. My regret is not going to Mr. Philip Flanigan first. I will be writing a negative review for the initial attorney. I recommend to anyone out there looking for an attorney with knowledge, experience, and a great staff that will walk you through to the end-- see Philip! He has been a life saver and I cant say enough how thankful I am to have been given his name. Thank you Philip and Staff!

I had a very, very tricky Personal Injury ("slip and fall") case that my own attorney eventually rejected. It's got a lot of risk, it involves attorney-expense, time, etc. It's against a Major Bank who vigorously defends such claims, etc. For so many reasons it's WRONG for the top attorneys in this field.
Many or most who either hung-up on me or didn't call back, write back, acknowledge receipt of previous attorney's Demand Letter, etc. Even my own attorney was very lukewarm and unable to give this much time. I understood and understand it all. The fact that an attorney showed interest at all buoyed my surgery and necessary physical rehab, which took a good six months just to again walk. So either way I won, either way this turned out well because I'm walking again, in the gym, exercising, etc.
Attorney Katz was just awesome in that he spent some time on the phone (despite being busy and involved in at LEAST one other trial). Returned all calls. If he said and says he'll call he does and did. I was just amazed at the Class-Level given the fact this Slip-and-Fall case is not an attractive proposition. I knew when my first attorney said he's bailing that it was a one-shot thing, a Demand Letter then everyone go home. People have to make a living, pay the rent, it has to make sense for these top guys.
From what I understand, Attorney Katz is about as "Tops" as it gets. My first attorney was SURPRISED
to hear Attorney Katz expressed ANY interest. (thought maybe I misunderstood or had wax in my ears).
He said REALLY, Richard M. KATZ returned a call on this - wow - did Attorney Katz SEE the Demand Letter?! Which just shows how other attorneys in this field regard Attorney Katz - as the top of the top.
I'm writing this because I just got off the phone with Attorney Katz.
He AGAIN called back (each time I'm shocked), this is THIRD time even though he senses/knows there's nothing very strong - or unusual - or favorable about my position.
Which is okay, as written I recovered, I'm well, I'm exercising again - as written the THOUGHT there might be compensation for a difficult year BUOYED my rehab, at least gave me some hope.
So Attorney Katz, just wanted to come here, reflect on what a class guy you are - and how anyone needing a top Los Angeles-Pasadena-Glendale-based attorney should first consult you.
I'm really in awe in light of the response from the others - and my respect for you knows no bounds.

I highly recommend Teresa Wilkinson for any estate planning work like creating trusts and wills. She updated our family trust and will documents that were over 20 years old. There was a lot to update in the trust structure and wording and for me the new documents are much easier to understand.

What I appreciate most about Brian is that he is accessible. I am able to call and ask questions about things I don’t understand. I’m not charged for this. I’m not pushed off to an assistant. Several years ago we hired Stephen Hall to write the documents for our estate. Since then we have retained him for counsel regarding gift-giving and other items throughout the years with the latest issue being the distribution of our father’s estate. When our father died with full blown dementia he left control of his sizable estate and a portion of his holdings to an unlicensed caregiver who had being living with him for a few years. Mr. Hall immediately petitioned the court to have the person removed as trustee. In the courtroom we found Stephen to be an experienced and well prepared negotiator, he sited where the State of California form to leave an inheritance to a caregiver had not been filled out and past cases where abuse occurred; he then met our objective to have the estate put safely in the hands of a fiduciary. Stephen was confident, authoritative and direct. When we met with the caregiver in mediation to resolve the issue of their inheritance Stephen sized up the possible outcomes as new information came to light and counseled us on our options. It came to the point where we had to make a pretty tough decision. Stephen was professional and supportive as he counseled us on the monetary, emotional and time costs to us if we went to trial. This was helpful in making our decision. Stephen Hall is a man who open and above board in every aspect of his dealings. His high moral fiber comes to surface as you work through a process with him. He is committed to giving his clients the best service from himself as well as from his staff.

When my aging parents needed help with their estate planning I set out to interview attorneys for the job of reviewing and updating their existing trust. I gathered recommendations from other professionals in the community, and Stephen Hall was one of three that I met with for initial consultation. While the other two attorneys I met with were more than competent to handle the job, Mr. Hall stood head and shoulders above them both. Mr. Hall's in-depth knowledge of not only the law, but of estate tax issues as well, is a combination that I have not found with any other attorney. He asked questions none of the other attorneys asked, and provided ideas that none of the other attorneys offered either. It was a crystal clear decision to hire Mr. Hall. Since the initial work with my parent's trust, we have had him work on our own family trust, as well as my wife's parents. I have recommended him to anyone who asks, and without exception people have been profoundly pleased with the work of this office. I had tried for over several months, to find an Attorney that would handle Medi-Cal, and not be afraid to fight the system. Most Attorneys said, "You will never win with Medi-Cal - give up". When I called Julie (referred by another attorney), she told us she would be at our house for a consultation. That happened within 24 hours. She took a load off our shoulders that can't be put in words. Her very capable staff called the next morning and let me know what the next step was. To make a real long story shorter, she was able to facilitate and stop the possibility of us being on the streets within a few months. My husband suffered a massive stroke 5 1/2 years ago and is still totally disabled. I truly don't know what we would have done without finding her. Miss Fiedler is caring, knowledgeable, attentive, and knows the system, which can be very nasty and non-caring. Just ask me I know! I am this wonderful man's wife and his best and most tenacious friend. Thank you Julie - Don't even hesitate to call her!

Zachary Merliss does his job with pride and really works for his clients n gives them the chance to be home with there family and loved ones during these hard times. I my self did not have any hope of getting out for a very long time maybe years, Mr. Merliss came to see me n jail and advised me that we had court in few days n he was going to push for me to go home on ancle monitor. I cried on way back to my cell thinking there's no way I'm going to go home with the charges I am facing. And when we went to court that day n I was told by the judge I was going home with gps I was inshoke right after dinner they told me roll it up. Next day I was at home playing with my grandson . THAT YOU MR MERLISS ONCE AGAIN FOR EVERYHING. It's not over yet but I believe he is doing everything to make sure justice is done. Wish us luck.

100% I would recommend Mr. Kreeger. He went above and beyond for me even though it was a “small” case. His assistant Jade was also amazing and was always there to answer even my small questions and if she didn’t have the answer for me right then she would always get right back to me. Chris would call me to even let me know they were still working on the “back end” stuff so I never doubted they were working on my case. Then after everything was done and my check was ready he met up with me the day after Christmas (yesterday, 12/26/24), even though his office was not open and he had family in town for the holidays, just to make sure I got my check. I was referred to Ms. Walsh by Fay Blix, Esq. as someone who could take care of the strange circumstances surrounding the sale of my co-op apt in a senior community. My co-signer and I are seniors. When my co-signer died unexpectedly during the sale, we were not able to locate papers he had written assigning to me all the proceeds of the sale since his interest in the co-op involved no money. He lived 400mi. away and the missing paperwork meant his “share” went to the probate of his estate to eventually be paid to me. I needed a lot of expert help to deal with all the complications which arose. The widow involved had no problem with assigning me the money, but the Calif. Probate had to be accomplished first. Ms Walsh was well-qualified to work with the widow’s atty to sort through the long process. She pro-rated all of our many, many emails and I was very pleased with her thorough knowledge and expertise with all aspects of this unusual case. It took over two years to finally get to the very successful conclusion and I am forever in her debt. I highly recommend her services! Since I had moved out-of-state, this all was handled by phone calls and emails. In fact, I have never met her, but she is a treasure!!

Cheryl is an outstanding attorney. After meeting with her for the first time, we knew we had the right attorney to take our case. After my mother passed, we discovered that her husband had filed a Quit Claim and moved the home into his name and into his trust. When he passed a month later, he passed the home to his brother. I was contacted by his attorney who wanted to get the house sold ASAP. We were able to delay the process until we found Cheryl who started the communication with the other attorney. Cheryl was amazing. She took control of the situation and handled the other attorney with strength. Cheryl knew the law and interpreted the trust according to the letter of the law. In the end, we won the case and the home is to be put back in the original trust.
Cheryl and her staff, Taylor, Robin and Maggie are just outstanding. I can’t say enough about them. If the need arises, I would not hesitate to use Cheryl again and I would certainly recommend her to anyone that is looking for and exceptional estate attorney.

Mr Osofsky explains everything very thoroughly, is extremely patient answering all questions, ensures the primary person's wishes are known to him and are being carried out. This includes consulting with our Mom 1:1 with us out of the room to ensure this. He then stayed with us over a long period of time as Mom sorted out her living situation etc. Once he established the correct trust for Mom, he then worked as an intermediary with our CPA. When Mom passed he processed all the paperwork and again served as an intermediary to the government and CPA. He was extremely thorough, professional but personal and empathetic as he worked with us all. He remains up on current law and policy. I highly recommend Mr. Osofsky.

I can’t say enough about this attorney. I came upon a very stressful, overwhelming problem I had to deal with for my dad. The laws and all the things that I can do -I can’t do for him and my mom since I’m the power of attorney so overwhelming. i asked for SDELC's help over 2 years ago after my aunt had a stroke and became cognitively impaired. i needed to take over the management of her legal and financial affairs and i worked with attorney scott templeton and paralegal ann roberts. both of them were very knowledgeable and helpful, guiding me through various legal processes. the two most complex issues were: (1) taking my aunt's bank to court since they seemed to want to fight me every step of the way when it came to accepting my power-of-attorney so that i could manage my aunt's accounts, and (2) setting up a conservatorship for my aunt so that i could comprehensively manage everything for her without any further legal challenges.
throughout it all, scott and ann explained every step of every process to me in a way i could easily understand. now that my conservatorship is fully set up, i'll continue to use SDELC for all of my aunt's future legal needs.
of course, i would gladly recommend SDELC (scott and ann in particular) to anyone who needs legal help for their elderly relatives!
