I trusted Lisa Bustos with my future. You will find it evident by the end of this review that Bustos will, without hesitation, leave your life upended for a handsome profit. In fact, there is no guarantee that you will even be divorced when she is done wringing you dry.
Anger and outrage are often the driving forces behind high-conflict divorce litigation. Ms. Bustos will not exercise “client control” as she is morally and ethically bound to do, however. To the contrary, she sees dollar signs when her clients are at vicious odds with their exes. At a time when you are on your knees, Bustos will be drawing up paperwork to take out exorbitant lines of credit in your name while assuring you that your settlement will be considerable. This is a blank check for Lisa Bustos’s firm, and she and her attorneys will bill against your credit freely and recklessly.
My line of credit ran over $50,000 and Lisa Bustos still had her hand out for more money, right before she directed her associate attorney to withdraw from my case on the eve of final trial. The people who should have been at my side throughout had cut and run when I needed them most. I signed a disadvantageous Mediated Settlement Agreement rather than face final trial alone. My divorce was finished by a friend to whom I also owe attorney’s fees now.
The State Bar of Texas investigated Lisa Bustos for alleged professional misconduct. Bustos hired her own attorney and the investigations ended in dismissals of my grievances (the Bar’s Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel is not a pillar of functionality and lawyers look out for their own). In the meantime, at least two other clients of Bustos Family Law have filed for bankruptcy, or are in the process of filing.

Lisa Bustos is a smart and tough lawyer, efficient and businesslike, but she also knows how to talk to people and explain what is happening and how to be more efficient. She also has financing options through a third party service if you need short term financing of your legal fees.

In 2012 my husband and I contacted Tracy to help us prepare a living will and overall estate plan. I will say that she was very professional and courteous, and her prices were quite fair.
My husband has been in oil and gas his whole life and we were specifically concerned about putting money away so that I would be okay and our disabled oldest daughter would be okay.
In general she did a good job and was easy to work with.
My husband passed in early 2021 and my son worked with Tracy to probate the estate. When we involved our tax specialist there was a 7 figure tax bill that was completely unexpected!
It felt like she didn't do her homework or involve the right tax specialist. We've been blessed to have more than we need but I am upset that she didn't do this properly when my husband was around to help.

I enlisted Tracy's help on estate planning. My situation included will, trust, inheritance trusts, and a special needs trust. Tracy's legal advice was rock-solid, she was patient with my many questions, able to communicate, responsive, organized, and reasonably-priced. I initially chose JP Law Office for my divorce case based on their reputation and the promising start I experienced. Nicolette was approachable, proactive, and seemed genuinely committed to guiding me through this challenging time. In the beginning, I felt confident that I was in good hands. Their close attention to detail and prompt responses gave me hope that my case would be handled with the utmost professionalism.
However, as the case progressed, I began to notice a concerning shift. What started as a proactive and client-focused approach gradually turned into a frustrating experience. Communication became less frequent, and important aspects of my case seemed to be overlooked or delayed.Instead we were wasting hours in not so important details. It became increasingly clear that the level of care and diligence I initially received was no longer a priority. They were managing different cases but also mine and they had no incentives to spend the hours in the relevant and important details.
Unfortunately, this decline in service had significant consequences. Not only did it lead to unnecessary delays, but it also resulted in considerable financial strain and a disastrous sentence. I had expected a higher standard of service, especially considering the costs involved. Instead, I was left feeling that my resources were wasted, with little to show for the time and money invested.

This is either a very convincing internet scam, or John is a very poor lawyer. After paying his invoice I have essentially lost contact. I went to the littlefield building listed as his office online and could not find any record of Coonley law from the folks I talked to. Please choose another firm at all costs. UPDATE: after asking for a refund, John finally had the time of day to speak with me. He agreed to give me a refund for some LLC filing fees I had paid him. (He never got the filing completed). I have since been trying to follow up and actually receive said refund for over 3 weeks now, but still have had no luck. This man is an absolute scumbag and a joke of an attorney. How he is able to practice law is a crime itself. I leave this review in hopes that nobody else ever has to deal with a crook like John like I did.

I had a very bad experience with attorney Janice Eggleston. I retained her in the past November to represent me in a modification case. Her hourly rate was $350/hour, but she would assign three people to work on your case and collectively her billing can be extremely high. When I tried to understand her billing, she would not explain why my bill was so high. She uses the words “pleading”, “documents”, “notes” in her billing entries and her bill would never tell you how much she charged you for each “pleading”, “document” or “note”. If you are fallen behind on your payment, she would file her motion to withdraw from your case right away.

My divorce/child support case was complicated. I spoke with half a dozen attorneys prior to speaking with Janice. None of the attorneys I spoke with were confident in how to proceed with my case. A few said they'd research it and get back with me (they didn't get back with me) and some just honestly said they had no idea how to handle this case. From the first time I spoke with Janice she was confident in how to proceed - she told me exactly what she would do and she did it. She researched case law for my particular situation and was very prepared in court. And 8 months later - our case is complete and we were awarded everything we asked for. Janice and her team were professional, they did not over promise anything. She is direct and to the point and was always available when I had questions. I hope to never have to use her services again, but I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing legal services for any family law situations.

I was referred to Lisa after endlessly pulling my hair out trying to find an attorney who would deal with me with compassion and understanding.
As a father who had repeatedly been denied visitation, yet who was not without fault of his own (I got behind on child support due to a number of financial setbacks), Lisa not only took my case, but did so with vigor and reassurance. After 3 years of an open case, Kellee was not able to make any movement toward closure and was not able to accomplish my case goals. My case was not the easiest but Kellee was more interested in continuous never ending negotiations rather than enforcement of existing orders and failed to notify me of key dates and notices of my case. If your case has any level of complication, I do not recommend her.

Shane is a highly-experienced, honest, and straightforward family attorney. I've worked with him over the past decade - first with a child custody case and second with a divorce. In both cases, he was transparent in what I could expect to happen. He has enough knowledge about family law to know what is worth fighting for, while also keeping expectations realistic. Also, he is (respectfully) an absolute menace in court. Shane is direct in his approach, which I appreciated greatly. However, more importantly, he and his team are also warm and accommodating - working with me as a single parent on a teacher's salary to ensure I could afford their representation. I always felt up-to-speed about what was happening in my cases and empowered to make decisions regarding my children. His paralegals are also incredibly helpful and quick to respond to inquiries and requests.
It can be overwhelming to be faced with a divorce or a custody battle; securing a solid attorney that wouldn't drain my bank account dry with nothing to show for it was a huge fear of mine. This is the worst attorney to walk this earth, if you have a custody battle and use him, you will lose your child. He doesn't care about his clients, I lost my child because of him, he was slaughtered and embarrassed by the other attorney, like he was a 2 year old, he didn't prepare, show one shred of my evidence, which I collected myself, he defense was deplorable, he even didn't dispute that the other attorney used white out on a legal document and changed the amount of support I was to pay, I had only made $ 1,200 for the whole year, as i was a stay at home mom and he let me have to pay $580 a month to my ex, plus $50 an hour on supervised visit at $300 a week. I have no criminal record, never been in trouble, spoiled my child, to dwi, a big part of my community and school, my ex didn't want to pay child support and called cps on me, I was 100% cleared, Timothy Hutton was aware of this. How did this happen, my exes attorney was better and Timothy has no spine and doesn't care, the judge really disliked him also, he didn't even stand up properly to address her, she yelled at him for that disrespect, I knew at that point I would lose. He didn't gather not one piece of evidence, call any witnesses, get and evidence of my ex lying or from his work. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM, no stars is what he deserves!!!! He does not care about the end results, why didn't he protect me, why did I get supervised visits, for the rest of my 5 year olds life, he wouldn't even help me fix his mistakes and then ignored me and my calls. He lost big time and dismissed himself, rude!! I lost my whole life and he could care less.
