This review is long overdue and is more than well-deserved. A couple of years back, I had visited Staunton, VA with some friends. Before the night was over, I had received a charge and had to return for court. I looked around at several attorneys and had a few consultations. After a few rounds of that, I found Susan through a Google search and contacted her. She offered a free consultation and spent 30+ minutes with me on the phone going over the details of my case and the events leading up to the charge. She was extremely knowledgeable, proactive, and genuine in the consultation, which really stood out to me more than the other attorneys I spoke with. She gave me very solid advice and offered a very fair price for representation. I thought it over for a couple of hours and I quickly called her back, which was a very good decision. In the months leading up to the court date, Susan checked in on me several times and gave advice. When the day finally came to go to court, Susan talked to the prosecuting attorney and they decided not to pursue the charges against me, and gave me 25 hours of community service instead. The anxiety and tension I felt about potentially having a charge on my record faded away after that date. I could not be more grateful for the great work that Susan did for me. I will always recommend her to anyone who's looking for legal representation in Staunton and the surrounding areas.

Linda helped me peacefully resolve a stressful custody case with an out-of-court settlement agreement that will protect my child much more than what a judge would likely have granted. This is the best outcome I could have hoped for– a real "win" in my book– and certainly the best resolution for everyone in our family. Linda is helping us out with a child support enforcement issue. She put our minds at ease immediately. Her expertise on the subject was apparent as soon as she gathered all of the relevant data on our case. She even gave strategies for how to discuss these issues with our child when they come up. She also gave a list of psychologists that can help. This is such a sensitive subject and can be traumatic for the child. It was nice to have an expert lawyer who cared for the human beings involved in the case, not just the case itself.

I was looking for a lawyer who would offer a free consultation to help me determine if it was worthwhile for me to pursue spousal support. I had read favorable reviews on Linda Shin and scheduled an appointment. I was, admittedly, disappointed when I was scheduled to meet with her associate, Michael Finch. I should not have been. He listened intently and compassionately while taking notes throughout our consultation. After, he asked me to supply more documentation/information and allow him time to research. After multiple back and forth emails, he advised that there was likely little to be gained by pursuing this action. He spent far more time on this than I ever would have expected for a free consultation. I was tremendously impressed by his ethics and integrity and would not hesitate to return to this firm with any future needs.

Ms. Blessing was recommended by a friend. Upon speaking with her and a mediator, our divorce was settled with both parties happy, and processed within two weeks. She took extreme care to ensure that it did not become contentious, and was very thorough in her explanations of the processes. We walked away from it with minimal fallout and mostly amicable. I recently needed legal representation for a custody trial and was referred to Christian Lapham. After one conversation with Christian, I was confident that this was the attorney that I wanted to represent me. He is a brilliant attorney who focuses on the best interest of your child and handles family manners with unmatched empathy and professionalism. Christian is passionate about his work, and that became increasingly apparent to me as my trial date approached. Although Christian is a proven litigator, he focuses on finding the best solution for you and your family. He is assertive and will be firm when necessary. I appreciated that Christian maintained his composure during emotional conversations with the opposition. I genuinely believe his demeanor and consistency is what drove us to a negotiated result.
As far as cost, yes, Christian is expensive. However, the process of negotiating for time with my child was scary and unnerving, and having the support of Christian throughout was invaluable. He is efficient with his time and is fair with his billing. I appreciated that he took the time to explain the billing process to me, avoiding surprises at the end of the month. All of the colleagues I worked with were bright, passionate, and knowledgeable. I felt confident having the backing of a full and qualified legal team.

Christian Lapham of Bean, Kinney and Korman, was my divorce attorney. He came recommended from our marriage counselor who worked with him on some Divorce Options workshops in Northern Virginia. Christian was an outstanding advocate for me from the beginning of the divorce process to the end (formal decree) and even beyond that. He is organized, smart, tenacious, and perhaps most important to me, a great counselor during a time I needed it most, providing guidance, wisdom and support. I felt he provided excellent value, and that become apparent throughout my divorce proceedings, especially in contrast to my ex’s attorney. He also had an impressive understanding of the Fairfax County court system and was very familiar with its judges and workings. I also want to comment on his character: Christian is fair, honest, and kind – not the attributes you typically associate with a great attorney. If you need a top notch family lawyer, I would recommend Christian without any reservation whatsoever.

I was going through a bad separation/divorce in 2010 and I needed an attorney ASAP. I looked around the internet and posted what I was looking for in an attorney on a website.
Christian immediately emailed me and said he could help me out with my situation. The minute I met him, I knew I hit the lottery with him as my attorney. Christian is such a calming presence and assured me he would take care of my stress and make sure that I would not be bullied by me ex's attorney. Off and on, my divorce and custody battle went on for a few years! Each time, Christian was there and had my back. My Ex's attorney was a very difficult person to deal with and very irrational and emotional at times as well. This behavior allowed my attorney (Christian) to come out with a favorable outcome when it came to my custody issue. His recommendation on having my young son testify in my custody battle was key to me having 50-50 split shared custody. While always calling a child to testify is a calculated risk, Christian felt good about it with the Judge that would oversee the trial. Christian also made excellent choices for me when it came to my divorce. His recommendation on a small buyout of my ex in return for her leaving my retirement alone and forfeiting her ability to ever come back to me for anything in the future was the BEST decision I ever made. I didn't think that at the time, but he assured me it was in my best interest seeing how vindictive my ex is. The end result? Christian was correct!
Whenever I had needed Christian, he's always been there for me. He has become more than just "my attorney" He has become a true friend and someone that I consider family. He is so kind, considerate and his integrity is what makes him an outstanding attorney.
While I hope I never go through anything like this ever again, I know that I can rely and count on Christian if I ever need him again in the future. He's a great person and an excellent attorney!

Nicole Burns came recommended to me by the attorney I had (and trusted). When my attorney decided to leave law to raise a family, she told me that Nicole was a lot like her -- she takes the high road and doesn't get into dirty fighting with other attorneys. Exactly right. Nicole is a class act and works hard for you. She's a tough negotiator. And she really listened and fought for me and my child. This was a custodial agreement that needed to be modified and she worked hard to do what was best for my child. My child is on the spectrum and she was empathetic and understanding with how to work with a child under these circumstances. Best of all, she brought perspective and kept me on track. Robert Dain is the best lawyer in this area. He is a seasoned legal professional, experienced and extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the law. Well respected in the courts, and held in high regard, Mr. Dain is fair and honest, humble -- all while committing himself to his clients' best interest in their case. I swiftly moved my divorce case to Mr. Dain after realizing my "family law" junior attorney was not making any traction, unfriendly and one who pandered to the OC. Mr. Dain is savvy and simply genuine. He had my best interest and that of my children at the forefront, in advocating for me. He had to work quickly to undo the former attorney's lack of detail for an upcoming deposition. It was amazing how quickly Mr. Dain got up to speed; asking all of the right questions, to my now ex-husband. We settled and did not go to court yet Mr. Dain was prepared in the event the opposing team would not cooperate. Most importantly in the interest of my children, we did not wish to subject them to that hostile environment. Robert (Bob) Dain and his partners at his firm handled my case (foreclosure resulting in subrogation claim filing Breach of Contract) in a professional manner and I didn't feel like he was 'riding the clock' so to speak on my case. EXPERIENCE MATTERS.... The plaintiff in my case was hoping for easy picking but Bob and his firm was able to blow it out of the water causing the Plaintiff Attorney to request a non-suit (Dismissal without Prejudice).
If you have a $90K problem you need a GOOD attorney and I would not hesitate to counsel Bob and his firm again for cases in Virginia.

The other lawyers were more focused on how to divide financial assets. I needed a lawyer that felt I had a case and was willing to work for me, and not just do the easy stuff. Mrs. Boone did an amazing job proving inconsistencies in my ex's depositions, fighting for child custody, and sole use of the marital home during the PL hearing. The two opposing counsels that my ex hired were no match for Mrs. Boone. Although Mrs. Boone tried to avoid going to trial, she had no choice, and she was prepared for war. I was in awe of how well prepared she was in comparison to opposing counsel. I am so thankful to the lawyer that referred me to Mrs. Boone because she was too busy to take my case. Over a year ago I began one of the hardest journeys I have ever walked!! Fighting for custody in the state of Virginia as a father is a lot more difficult than you could ever imagine. Throughout the process I had 3 attorneys. By the time I got to Mike I had almost lost all hope. He was very knowledgeable in the entire process and he was very patient with me. I was faced with a family law issue where I could have represented myself. The matter was fairly cut and dried and I was concerned that hiring an attorney would be "overkill". As a business owner I have had to represent myself several times in small claims court and am not intimidated by legal matters. Ultimately I hired Matthew and he did a wonderful job representing me. Family court is very different from small claims and his presence was well worth the cost. If you are on the fence about hiring an attorney or representing yourself, I can not urge you enough to err on the side of caution and strongly consider Mr. Falwell as your legal representation. I decided to reach out and ultimately hire Ms. Pervaiz after receiving positive feedback from a friend. I am extremely happy with my decision because Ms. Pervaiz was very supportive and professional from beginning to end. At the time, I was in a very tight bind and conflicted on what to do next after reading about consequences that were levied on others in a similar situation to my own.
I knew that I wanted to hire Ms. Pervaiz after the initial consultation because she was confident and provided me assurance right away. She had handled similar cases in the past that yielded positive results so I was much more comfortable after reading all the horror stories online. After the initial consultation, she gave me a list of documents to obtain so she can review, understand, and fully assess my case.
After I sent over the documents, Ms. Pervaiz made herself available every day until my actual court date. This really put me at ease knowing that I could always reach out anytime I had any questions. I only called a few times mainly to ensure she had everything she needed but the initial checklist she gave me covered it all.
On the actual court date, we agreed to meet early to go over any final questions and to explain the process in the courtroom. She made it really easy for me as she did all of the talking. She laid out potential scenarios, explained the details of each situation, and asked what outcome I would prefer.
