Vanessa and her team walked me through what was the most complicated circumstance of my life. When I shared the story of my circumstance, she asked many questions about home life behavior and immediately made recommendations to rule out other factors relevant to a divorce proceeding. The plan which was put in place uncovered information I was completely blind to and provided me the detail to begin the fight of my life... for my children.
She was responsive, timely and thoughtful. I found it also valuable that she looped in other members of the firm to assist in answering questions regarding criminal actions to help me take make decisions on actions to take.

Britt was very helpful during my consultation with her recently about some "legal matters" that I needed some advice and guidance. She was great at listening to my situation and advising me on how to proceed with the matter at hand. She is very client focused and intuitive. Mr. Bradshaw was very attentive to everything I needed and wanted. Being the first lawyer I ever needed, he made the process as easy as possible for me. He informed me of the entire legal process being that I had no prior experience. He kept me fully informed on everything that was going to occur in court ahead of time down to the judges name. I never once worried that he would not show up to court or leave me out of the loop. He is an aggressive lawyer in order to get your needs and wants met. I hired Ameet Habib several years ago when I was going through a divorce. Just recently I went through a custody battle with my ex over our teenage children and had Ameet represent me again. I entered in a custody battle, asking for joint legal/physical custody, with no intentions of hiring a lawyer. I was lost, scared, and had no idea of what to do so I met with Mr. Habib for a consult. From the moment I met with him, he was very direct and to the point and I hired him. He never gave me false hope, did not lie, or hide anything. Mr. Habib would advise me of his professional opinion and then ask me what I wanted to do, so he did everything with what I wanted in mind. I am not very good speaking in court and I messed up with my words and he was able to fix my mess up. The GAL was against joint legal/physical custody and its very hard to convince the judge to rule against the GAL and Mr. Habib was able to persuade the judge that what I was asking for was in the best interest of my son. After trial, there was an appeal, before the appeal we were came to an agreement and part of that agreement was to withdrawal the appeal and when the other party did not follow through with their part of the agreement, Mr. Habib withdrew our part of the agreement in order to turn their hand to get them to follow through with their part of the agreement. Mr. Habib is a very intelligent lawyer and is very good at what he does. I would recommend him to anyone that is in need of a custody lawyer. He does everything he says and goes far and beyond to get things done. In the end, I got what I asked for and what my child needed, joint legal/physical custody without either party paying child support. Thank you so much for helping me get through something that means so much and that was so hard and scary.

This law firm never stops working for you. Sarah Patras was our attorney in a Family case where a lot of paperwork was involved and a lot of serious issues and inaccurate information needed to be addressed. Ms. Patras was optimistic from the beginning and gave us the confidence to move forward even when some other issues came up.
Their para legal Ashley Constant was always available even when Ms. Patras was tied up and they both stayed in constant communication throughout the entire ordeal.

Mary worked with me over several years through a very complex high-conflict custody case with unique legal challenges including difficult opposing counsel and multiple jurisdictional problems. Her ability to research and present statutory and case law strengthened our case until eventually the opposing party had little to argue in court that she could not competently counter with established precedent. I would highly recommend her for high-conflict custody cases or unique cases presenting legal issues not normally seen in juvenile and domestic relations court.

My divorce took almost 3 years and included such fun items as a retired National Guard officer who refused to work, sued for spousal support, refused to pay child support, had a significant problem with alcoholism, voluntarily unemployed himself to reduce child support payments, and who hired incompetent lawyers. Throughout it all, Mr. Butler was the epitome of calm, cool and collected. He held my hand when it was needed, was a shark in the court room, and got me what I needed in the divorce to ensure my children were taken care of and that I wasn’t taken advantage of.
In a time of uncertainty and chaos that was my life after my ex-husband and I separated, Ted was the one stable person I had working on my side to make sure I didn't make any costly errors in judgment based on emotion instead of logic.
His staff is top notch and worked together so that my costs were minimized…even when my ex-husband tried to do everything in his power to run up my legal bills.

When what should have been an uncomplicated divorce turned into a three ringed circus, I was very fortunate to have Alan Bowden as my council.
From the onset he was caring, kind, upfront, plain spoken yet obviously very intelligent. There was never a moment I doubted his strategy or advice.
During the court hearings he was very well prepared, professional, articulate and to the point, unlike the paper shuffling, mumbling and redundant questions from the opposition. Alan kept it simple, no mud slinging and classy.
On top of Alan's apparent love for the law, justice and giving his client 100% , he is also a very nice guy and a pleasure to be around, even in difficult circumstances.

I cannot possibly have enough amazing things to say about Simon Marle and his entire staff. It’s not only about the lawyer, but the support and staff behind it for me. I called Simon’s office one night, over a year ago in desperation of where to turn and what to do. If you are not a lawyer, and you are involved in any kind of legal case, things can be very overwhelming and knowing what steps to take can be tricky. I called around 6pm and Simon Marle, himself answered the front desk phone. I was very thrown off, because typically lawyer/attorneys will not handle those kinds of matters. He gave me a free consultation about 20-25 minutes on my case. Was VERY straightforward, honest, and to the point. I put my trust in him, and I have NOT been disappointed in any way. His staff, Taylor, Samantha, and Lisa truly care about the clients and really spend their time being personal with you. I love that they address me by name and not by “client”. Samantha has bent over backwards to contact other parties for me and you can tell she put’s her time into her job. She is always on top of it, super respectful and goes above and beyond. Not one time, have I been brushed off or felt like I was being annoying or I have been to well over 5-7 court hearings with Simon. Each time we have gone, it has been a complete satisfactory outcome IF not more. Simon has always been a very caring and honest man. It is really hard to find people now that do not take advantage, or who really just do not spend time with your case. He personally will pull out a file and go line by line with you and explain and questions, details you may have missed or anything you do not understand. I think for me, the best is that it runs as a family unit, and when you are dealing with family courts/judicial issues, having the same mindset in your company, reflects when the clients are in person. He is affordable and I am so very grateful that I decided to go with him. I recommend him to ANY and all my friends and family who ask for recommendations. Simon has had experience in this for decades, and you can tell because his presence in court is respected very much not only by the judges and the staff but also by the other attorneys. I couldn't believe what had just happened to me, I was accused of a felony for shoplifting. No matter how I tried to explain the situation,I was ridiculed and mocked. I felt helpless and scared then I had a free consultation with Simon. Talking to him was easy and I knew I wanted him on my side. I talked to my husband about the consultation and we wasted NO time hiring him.
A visit to his office to discuss my situation, he immediately found an error in the paperwork from the police. Simon was so on top of the case. He put me at ease.
We went to court and he didn't let any the store security get away with anything. I'm not sure we were even in front of the judge 15 minutes when my case was dismissed !! I hope I never have to go to court again but if I should. You better believe I will have Simon next to me. There aren't words to discribe my gratitude .

Throughout 2013 and 2014, Rachael Hammer has done an excellent job with my divorce, support and custody case despite extremely contentious and difficult circumstances. The custody case started with the mother trying to limit visitation to twice per month which led to a hearing where Ms. Hammer successfully argued for joint custody.
Ms. Hammer guided us through months of negotiations and litigation to a highly successful outcome. She has stayed with us in the aftermath, taking late night and weekend phone calls, through pick-up explosions and police involvement.
I can not say the case has been pleasant, but Ms. Hammer and her legal assistant Katrina Smallwood, have remained a calm and steady presence no matter the circumstance. Ms. Hammer is knowledgeable about Family Law in both DC and Virginia, reliable, and professional. She works well with Clients and opposing counsel.

I have the pinnacle of a deadbeat ex-husband. Many think they have it, but mine can take the cake against anything you have faced. He's talented that way.
One day he seems to have woken up and decided to sue me for full custody. I had a lawyer previously who was too nice. He felt I was being unreasonable, and I think Mary did too before she met him.
He had not paid child support in, well... ever. He had not seen our child in years, and lost his legal rights about 3 years before this case.
Mary and I only had a few brief conversations before the court date, and as I said I think she thought I was being unreasonable before she met my ex. The reason we only talked briefly was because I fired my former lawyer and their was a short amount of time we has once we were in touch with each other, and it was what I wanted. I am sure she would have made time if we had it to talk before the court appearance.
Mary met with him before the case, and he agreed to pay more than he owed in back child support! I was thrilled, they amended the support to a higher amount than he was previously ordered to pay, and he agreed to garnishment. This was nothing short of a miracle.
Mary again asked me if I was willing to give him some visitation, or allow my child to travel to his place.
I told Mary I would not let my ex have visitation, and I wanted it legally removed so that he did not think he had any rights. She told me she was not sure that would happen, but she would do what I asked.
In the end he lost his physical custody too, but they allowed for a very limited visitation; to make it so he still had to pay child support! I had been asking for years to remove his rights, and the court felt sorry for him and my old council did not fight for me.
I love this woman, and have sent LOTS of people her way! I referrer to her as "Sick Em". Ex acting like a butt get Sick Em!
Oh and on top of the fact she did in one court appearance what I tried to accomplish with my past lawyer for years and $56K+, the retainer I paid was not even half used! So I got a refund! That has never happened to me with a lawyer before! (I use lawyers ALL the time)

We may have lost a battle but we won the war, with that being said, Ms. Nace was very straight forward. She provided with her team, a family feeling from the team. I was already divorced when I hired Erik. My ex-husband was taking me to court to stop my alimony and to change custody that we already agreed on for our son. I'm so thankful I found Erik because the first attorney I hired was not at all what I expected; I had to ask to speak in court because that attorney wasn't answering questions the judge was asking. Erik was and is completely opposite; he fought for my rights and didn't leave a stone unturned. I might have a little issue with wanting to talk in court but Erik was good at keeping me calm and having me let him do what he is good at and what I hired him to do. He was ready and when I was completely thrown off guard by my ex asking the judge for full custody Erik was on it. Michael Huyoung was a godsend for us. At age 68 I found myself in a situation I never could have imagined and was being prosecuted by the federal government and was looking at a long sentence.
