Throughout this process, she has been extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and communicative. She has extensive experience in this space (having been on both sides of counsel) and takes her time to check in regularly and update me on my case. Mr. Meisenhelder has been representing me for years. I'm running a multiple business that requires the legal counsel from time to time. Including reviewing our contracts, insurance policies and other business needs. We have them on a retainer and call or email away.
Mr. Meisenhelder and his team is always able to understand my unique requirement for a contracts that I need to create. They are able to reduce my risk and liability by identifying unforeseen events that could occur in the future.

My wife had a stroke and I was in dire need to speak with a legal consultant to get some direction on what type of steps to take next. Danica spent the time needed to help me understand the difference between recoverable vs. non-recoverable damages and details about the litigation process. Steven played "David" as we went after "Goliath" (Big Insurance). Friends said we couldn't win ..... we did! He knew when to push and when to back off. He wrote a great letter citing case law which signaled they weren't up against inept, novice representation. They quickly settled. He did exactly what I hired him to do. No one has to explain how difficult it is to recover money from someone who lied to you, left you in an awful place, and disappeared – but Steve and his team did.
I hired someone I believed to be a contractor to do work on the foundation of my house. He showed me his card which had a valid contractor’s license number and he had done a couple of handyman jobs for me, so I trusted him. Several months into the foundation retrofit, the City of Oakland noticed his work while inspecting a house across the street, and to my surprise red-tagged my property. Before abandoning his work the “would be” contractor had left my house with an exposed foundation and other big problems. I later found out that my house was near collapse from this person’s bad work.
Demands to finish the work went unheeded. Demands for repayment of the money I had paid went unheeded. I had no choice but to sue this purported contractor and the actual contractor whose license was involved.
Through careful and strong legal strategy, Steve and his team got the other side to finally hear my story and see their risk, and achieved a significant court order that functionally ended the case and resulted in a significant settlement for me. This resonates with me because I know what it is like to be ignored and the energy it takes to power through that kind of behavior and Steve and his firm brought it off.
At each point in the litigation, Steve worked to minimize my costs where possible, and also advised me in related actions against the unlicensed contractor’s co-conspirators which resulted in one claim being settled and judgments against the rest of the defendants.
I recommend Steven Joseph Kahn highly.

We were up against a defendant who was backed by a national insurance company, and John expertly guided us through several difficult circumstances. And when it came time to depositions, John absolutely demolished the opposition. He was so much better prepared, and shortly after that the other side completely capitulated and settled the case for the maximum settlement the law allowed. Mr. Mcmillan helped me tremendously I had called over ten lawyers and I was not very hopeful of receiving anything helpful because all of the lawyers were about money and even wanted to charge me for a consultation to see if they would even take my case Mr. Mcmillan did not charge for a consultation he listened to me and gave me great advice he was incredibly patient, kind, and honest. My experience with Caputo - Van Der Walde law firm was
extremely positive from the very beginning! I was injured in
an auto accident February 13, 2024. My injury required surgery, a
3 night stay at Good Samaritan Hospital, an almost 3 week stay

initial phone call. Paul was very helpful and caring. His

I was directed to Don Peeler, Don was very helpful and caring
from the onset. He asked me to bring certain documents to the
law office, upon delivery I had the pleasure of meeting Don in person. I also had the pleasure Of meeting Corine Abrego on
my first visit to Caputo - Van Der Walde. Generally when I
called Caputo - Van Der Walde Corine answered the phone,
always warm, caring, and helpful.
Most of my contact at Caputo Van Der Walde was with
Shawn Smith, my case manager. Shawn's work was detailed.
Shawn was always available to answer any questions I had.
Shawn guided me as to how to proceed with the next step
in providing Shawn with documents, copies of bills, and any
information he needed in order to submit the specific
information to specific agencies.
Shawn always provided me with copies of emails he had
received from individuals/agencies he was working with to
complete my case. My out of pocket expenses were paid
to me, I was also given a pain and suffering settlement. All
paper work for my out of pocket expenses and pain and
suffering settlement was completed and coordinated by
Shawn Smith, with assistance from Don Peeler.
I felt the work and coordination done by Smith and Peeler
was accomplished in a very timely way. All in all everyone at
Caputo Van Der Walde was very easy to work with, very
cooperative. I truly believe the mission of Caputo - Van Der
Walde was the help me in every way possible. My best interests
were certainly their top priority.

I did research, spoke with colleagues, and interviewed several attorneys. From our very first conversation, I found Daniel to be very straightforward and honest -- two highly unusual characteristics for lawyers. What most impressed me, however, was Daniel's responsiveness. Each time I called, Daniel personally answered the telephone (it's far more common for lawyers to use their staff to sift through possible clients). Each time Daniel promised to write me or contact me, he always did just as he promised. Even more surprising to me, Daniel would contact me with important information even when I wasn't expecting it. Brett Yorke from Legal offices of Ball & Yorke was the guy for my car accident case. I had an accident on a Friday, I was injured in the accident and sought legal counsel right away. I sent out some feelers for legal advice and Brett called me back on a Sunday night, two days after my accident. He was personal, reliable and did everything he could to get a fair amount over the 2 1/2 years I worked with him. I never had to deal with insurance. His team took the stress off of me so I could heal and get back to work. I would use Brett & team again and recommend them for PI cases.
