I used Mr. Arietta’s Law Office for a Will and Living Trust. Its something I put off for years. I should have reached out earlier because David and his assistant Megan did a great job. Efficient. Good at keeping in touch on next steps. The fee was reasonable too (I compared elsewhere). Seems like the process went pretty quick. I never need an attorney, but if I do again, I’ll probably come here first.

Consulting Ethan Tidwell was an absolute godsend during my complex divorce case that involved the nightmare complexities of custody issues, finances, and an abusive/vindictive ex-spouse who falsely spread accusations about me during the divorce in an attempt to secure sole custody and leave the state with my children. And prevent my children from having a relationship with their father. Whenever Ethan was available for consultation, he was consistent in providing extremely valuable, honest, and reliable information. I was impressed in how I could ask Ethan any question and he always had an answer right away backed by extensive knowledge, objective facts, and a strong understanding of the inner workings of family court. He is also able to remember facts well and can regurgitate granular details from our conversations of months prior. This gave me confidence in speaking to him about my case. His guidance helped me in not only the legal aspects of my case but also in maintaining a positive bearing during what was one of the most emotionally-difficult periods of my life. Ethan has a good grasp of knowing what is important and what isn't, which often provided relief for me on many occasions when I was overstressed out about something. He gave solid guidance prior to my custody/fact finder evaluation. Ethan was always available in some form or fashion, which is rare with busy attorneys. If Ethan was in trial or mediation, he would always make a transparent attempt to let me know what he was doing whenever he was available to do so. And after he would reach back out, which speaks to his ability to juggle many cases at once. I have personally witnessed how he works hard around the clock. I remain more than impressed in how he continued to provide support for my case despite sometimes having to travel long distances within the state of California to represent his clients in other counties/jurisdictions as not all of his cases remain solely in Los Angeles. Additionally, Ethan is a family man and somehow has found a balance between being an active father and supporting me during my divorce. To me, this speaks to his time management, character, and credibility of being an attorney who cares despite all that life will throw at one in their personal life. Worst lawyers ever. They let a whole year go by and never sent my husband to the doctors or anything. They had my email , his email, my number , his number , including our home address and we’d call for updates and they’d always say everything is going great if they needed anything they’d call us. After a year they dropped our case for “no communication”. And then told us they had the wrong number on file. Now we’re struggling to fight a car accident case because of how long it has been.

To be fair John worked with me on the price, provided advice on how to fill out my own forms and reviewed them for me. however in the end when I went to settlement hearing he didn't accompany me to help me negotiate the settlement. I like John as a person but feel like he wasn't really there for me when I really needed him.

I hired John for a medical malpractice case about 1 year ago....without going into the details, this was the most terrifying experience of my life - not just for me, but for my family. My prior experience with many lawyers had been negative in that I never really felt that they cared more about me than the case or the settlement - not true with John! Not only did he ALWAYS put my interests first, he always took the time to explain everything to me and my family with incredible patience and detail. I want to take a moment to thank the entire staff at the Daniel J. O'Neill law office in SLO town for their 2+ year work handling my neck injury claim. When I was involved in what I thought was a typical rear end accident in 2019, I didn’t realize my neck complaints would persist and worsen over time. It got to the point where conservative measures were not providing any relief but I had gotten to the point of just accepting that the pain I had was something I would need to get used to. After an initial consultation with his law office, Mr. O’Neill surprising offered to file a claim on my behalf. Not only did he offer to represent me, he also provided a different perspective regarding pain clinic procedures that were not previously considered. After several unsuccessful procedures locally in the Bay Area, he referred me to Dr. Jordon, a Pain Specialist in Santa Monica, that was able to identify the source of injury after specific diagnostic testing. It took approximately a year of procedures and tests, but eventually we were able to find some relief and resume a more normal lifestyle with the family. During this whole time, I never inquired about how much this case might be worth since my main intention was getting pain relief. Throughout the whole process of collecting records, submitting forms and discovery, the entire office staff was patient, respectful and thorough. It was clear that the behind the scenes work of the case was extensive. Mr. O’Neill and the support staff spent countless hours with preparation for our deposition, the IME and progressive negotiations with the insurance provider. In the end, with much diligence and savvy negotiations, I received a settlement beyond any of my expectations. I understand the settlement will not cure my neck issue, but it does provide some peace of mind for covering future care and future needs of my family. With much gratitude, I want to send my kindest wishes to the legal team of Daniel J. O’Neill. Your efforts and results are extraordinary!

After consultation, Mr. O'Neill agreed to take on my car accident case. He gave me instruction on what information he needed me to gather for him; police report, hospital and medical records etc. and I got busy doing just that. I called him back to explain that the hospital could not forward my records for a month to which he replied that it was fine. Just after I received the records and had compiled all the required information, I received an email from Mr. O'Neill's assistant that he was too busy and would no longer be helping me. I was devastated! I emailed and phoned him once, imploring him to please help me. If he was too busy at the time, i was willing to wait, but he still refused. i had only spoken to him a few times initially and the one other time regarding the wait for hospital records, so i wonder if it was not for some other reason than just being 'too busy' as I was willing to wait. I had spent much effort and money to gather all my information and records together ready to send to him. If Mr. O'Neill had indeed become too busy, then I feel it would have been respectful and more appropriate to refuse to represent the new cases rather than refuse my case that he had accepted a month prior. after my initial consult with Mr. O'Neill, i felt so hopeful and thought I had found a good, caring person to help me. Words cannot express the emotional devastation I felt when he 'dumped' me as it was during a very tragic and difficult time in my life. I feel Mr. O'Neill treated me disrespectfully and uncaringly.

I Would avoid this lawfirm! I contacted this law firm and was informed that the lawyers were currently at lunch. I was advised to fill out a request for a follow-up on their website. Subsequently, I received an email stating that they were not interested in taking on my case. It is important to note that they did not inquire about any details or specifics regarding my situation. As a result, I reached out to another attorney who demonstrated a genuine interest in my case by asking relevant questions and demonstrating a clear understanding of the matter. This attorney is now actively pursuing my case.

Back in August, I called Goldfarb & Luu to update my revocable trust. I last updated in 2001. The quote was $1050.00 depending on how much time is spent reviewing it. If a paralegal reviews it. It is $295.00 per hour. If an attorney needs to review it, it is $525.00 per hour. Annette , Rebecca’s administrative assistant and I agreed on a schedule by phone with a paralegal and Rebecca. Then shortly after, I received an email but the schedule to talk to Michelle/paralegal and Rebecca had completely changed without our prior agreement .She agreed to revert Michelle’s back to the original but was quite adamant not changing Rebecca’s schedule as Rebecca’s schedule was quite full but her schedule wasn’t convenient for me. Nevertheless I consented because I liked to get it moving . After talking Michelle I wasn’t happy about it . Michelle and I spent 15 minutes , verifying the account numbers of each of my asset account. I felt what she did as a paralegal wasn’t warranted as it was quite clerical and didn’t require a paralegal to ask me if my account numbers as stated were corrected. That phone call and reviewing the existing estate plan costed $206.50 ( 0.7 hours or 42 minutes . My phone record indicates 15 minutes so she used 27 minutes to review my old trust ). Rebecca reviewed my trust and wrote the following “ Your trust is only 16 pages long and is missing critical sections so unfortunately, we cannot amend it and need to restate it. The most cost efficient option moving forward will be our Comprehensive Estate Planning where you will get all new documents - $5900 “ , to which I replied what “ My trust is a folder that is 3 inches thick. I don’t know what you meant by only 16 pages long. As for $5900.00. According to Google A detail estate planning costs $900 to $5950. Mine is simple. … I have no houses, no exotic cars, no sail boats, nothing physical that I want to give away. I don’t know why it will cost me $5900.00. “. Rebecca didn’t respond to my question . She just replied I need to redo my 5 health directive. I called 2 attorneys from a list suggested by Fidelity. One quoted $3500 to $5000.00 and another quoted $4000 to $6000 . Both said the price depends on complexity. If I have multiple properties, own business, limited partnership etc, then it will be at the higher end of the range. She said in my case, it would be more toward the lower end of the range or around $3000 , less than half of what G & L wanted . At that point, I felt that Rebecca’s price is way of line . I got the impression that $1050 is a done deal, a bit more or a bit less. I agreed to move forward after the initial 30 minutes free consultation. Her suggestion of “Comprehensive Estate Planning “ wasn’t warranted because mine is simple. I called Rebecca I am cancelling the next appointment, reminding myself that her rate of $525.00 per hour . I told her I will pick up my trust folder. When I showed up her staff returned my folder , plus a check for $656.50. I paid $1050.00 so her company spent $393.50. The invoice itemized each email and time spent reviewing the old trust. I counted 9 email responses costing $187.00 or $21.00 per email response on the average . So after spending $393.50, I accomplished absolutely nothing. By chance I found a company called The Document People near Topanga Canyon and Ventura Blvd on Google. I called them. Andrea answered. I also watched their video in preparation for that. The quote was $799 for single. $899 for couple. All I have to do is to setup an appointment, come in and fill out some forms ( to start from scratch ), return to sign some forms . Regardless of complexity, it takes about 1 week. Appointments were readily available. Email and phone responses incur no charges ( as opposed to to G & L where I can be charged for that ) I just got my trust updated for $399.00 last Tuesday. I lost $393.50 . but I saved $5500.00

Positioned themselves as a full-service practice at a critical time when I was moving my mom from out of state to be better able to take care of her. Every one of their "specialists" knew nothing about their supposed subject area, except to refer me to other for pay professionals outside the practice. Then, when I would ask the questions the practice couldn't answer, they would tell me that that was something that the practice should have been able to answer for me. Literally got more value out of the utterly free services from the retirement community center around the corner from my apartment. Also blew through $600.00 of the $1,000 retainer and literally produced nothing of any substance. And had the gall to tell me that the complete, straightforward, out of state estate documents I had and just needed to be brought into compliance with California law would have to be completely redone from scratch because of one missing addendum of absolutely no consequence. Do not recommend.

John Hill isn't stable to help you with your legal problems. He is barely there mentally. He doesn't have POA for his own affairs. His nephew Micheal Hill is POA. I was his live-in caregiver, assistant, trainer helping continuously for 13 months. I worked for him every single day for the entire time. NO VACATION, NO DAYS off for a whole year. That tells you what kind of hypocrite he is. He is in such cognitive decline, it is unimaginable that he can "practice" law. When I requested a vacation after exhausting myself he hired someone for cheaper and I was asked to leave under threat because he blamed me for reporting financial crimes I uncovered while on the job . I've been trying to collect back pay and overtime that is owed to me and wouldn’t even return my calls. I had to sue him to collect 6 months of overtime. I've never been treated so poorly and insignificantly by a client that I dedicated my life to. Nobody in his immediate family came to help him even one day. That tells you what kind of man he is.
