If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid Avard Law Firm and Carol Avard like the plague. My experience with them from February 13, 2024, to June 5, 2024, was nothing short of a nightmare. In just four months, they managed to completely derail my SSDI case, setting it back to the point where I’m now forced to appeal to the Appeals Council just to get a hearing—a step that wouldn’t even be necessary if they had done their job right.
When they took my case, it was already in a precarious state. I had already gone through the reconsideration process on my own, which took a year, only to be denied. Despite this, Avard Law Firm proceeded to re-file the same appeal I had already done, wasting even more time. The worst part? They filed the wrong paperwork! When I called Social Security myself, I was told explicitly that Avard had filed the wrong documents. When I confronted the firm about this, they flat-out lied to my face, claiming they had filed the correct paperwork, just not the “one Social Security was looking for.” What does that even mean? If it’s not what they were looking for, it’s wrong!
This wasn’t a simple mistake; it was gross negligence. They clearly didn’t care enough to even review my case properly before filing. After I called them out, they finally filed the correct paperwork, but by then, the damage was done. They botched it so badly that my request for a hearing was filed late. Now, thanks to their incompetence, I don’t even get the hearing I deserve unless I go through the Appeals Council—a highly unusual and completely unnecessary step, had they just done their jobs correctly.
I’ve been battling this case since July 2020, and this has been the worst experience by far. To think that in just four months, Avard Law Firm didn’t just fail to move my case forward—they actually ruined it. Their handling of my case was so reckless that it’s hard to believe they are still in business. Thankfully, I’m now under new representation, and I can only hope they can undo some of the damage Avard Law Firm has caused.
Save yourself the agony and choose a different law firm. Avard Law Firm is a disaster waiting to happen

My wife was rear ended and hurt her back and neck. The first lawyer assigned by Morgan and Morgan was Cindy Lambert. She told my wife they were going to get her $150,000 at least. They sent her to Dr's for about 2 weeks. Then she said to immediately stop going to the Dr's and they would only be getting $10,000. At that point I emailed Cindy and John Morgan stating how disappointed we were with how things were going. The next day my wife was assigned another lawyer from the Morgan and Morgan cache of lawyers. Scott Cronin proceeded to send my wife to the Dr again and the scans showed damage to her neck and back. A week later Cronin said the insurance agency was only allowed to pay so much. They did not fight for my wife at all. They gave her $9k and that was it. They say in the commercials they will fight for you, that is a bunch of crap. I would never use them again or tell any one I know to use them. The last thing they did was hold back the payment of her money for 3 weeks out of spite it seems.

I was very fortunate to receive a referral to Atty. Ralph Dyer for contract paperwork related to the sale of my ownership in 4 separate corporations to my partners. I required this done within a 2 week span from when I first contacted him. It required him to review the documents that were prepared during the last internal transaction and modify them for my special circumstances where appraisals and financials were waived. He was extremely professional and a delight to work with from my very first conversation with him. He responded to emails and texts within minutes and returned edits overnight. I was astounded at the speed of the turnaround and the level of detail he invested in my documents. I was able to meet my closing deadline despite the short notice. I would highly recommend him for all contract matters.

I was a victim in an automobile accident a few yrs ago. Attorney Citron handled the case for me, and got me a settlement from Geico. In the last two years since then I have spoken with clients and friends who are attorneys and I have reviewed with them the circumstances of my accident case. Several of these attorneys have complimented Howard Citron, saying that they would not have gotten as much for me if they had handled the negotiations with Geico instead of Howard. It is nice to know that I had chosen a superb attorney, and that even Howard's peers compliment his work and accomplishments.

As a fellow South Florida lawyer, there is only a small list of lawyers that I would trust to refer clients to, and Howard's is at the very top of the list. I know that he will be there to listen to the client's needs and will fight for them from start to finish. I had the pleasure of consulting with Mrs. Hillencamp regarding my employment being terminated. Since there was an underlying medical cause to the situation I spoke with this attorney who informed me that it would be more helpful for me to speak with a labor attorney; due to the particulars of the case. She referred me to one of her long-term contacts, JR Callahan; who successfully helped me appeal my unemployment compensation and directed me to file a complaint with the EEOC. At this point I am still waiting for a response from this agency, and once this happens the next step will be taken. Overall, Mrs. Hillencamp was very helpful with information and her referral has helped my case move along the correct path. Her legal advice was very accurate and helpful.

If I could give more than a 5 star review for Jimmy (James) Gustafson with Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart and Shipley, I certainly would. Jimmy worked extremely hard from day one on my case.
He is an extremely knowledgeable attorney with incredible experience on all types of cases.
Jimmy made time to personally answer each and every question I had throughout the entirety of my case. If he didn’t know an exact answer (as I asked every question under the moon), he would quickly go out of his way to find the answer for me. I trusted him with bringing justice to my case and he persevered in every way possible to do just that. As my case required filing a claims bill and going through the long and tedious sovereign immunity process, most attorneys in our local area did not have the knowledge to take on my case. Jimmy and his firm, however, were top notch at knowing every aspect of successfully getting my claims bill passed. My mom and I had the displeasure of talking with Cynthia Nunn from Leighton Law to discuss going after Orlando Health for their negligence in treating my dad's cancer, which led to his passing. Not only did she make us relive our nightmarish story that we had already submitted online, she wasted our time by shutting us down immediately. If she was going to say no, why make us relive the trauma? To add insult to injury, she was actually defending the negligent doctors in question and straight up told us that our loved one was going to die anyway. Whether that was true or not, you do not just say that so nonchalantly to other people. You would not like that if someone said that about your dad. I am almost glad they did not take our case because I would rather deal with the devil himself than deal with Cynthia and Leighton Law after the added emotional damage she did to us.

Found this firm after doing research on board certified Criminal Defense attorneys. My 25yr old son had never been in trouble with the law but found himself faced with a 3rd degree felony burglary charge that he did not commit. He basically walked into an abandoned hotel that was under construction but did not intend or attempt to steal anything. He has a hobby taking pictures of unique and abandoned buildings. We thought it would be a simple case that his public defender could handle but after the PD had several negotiations with the prosecutor, we felt we were out of options, aside from my son admitting to the burglary charge with 3yrs of probation. I spoke with Mr. Ruddy Smith from this firm and he thought we were in a tough spot but said he would do his best. This guy is down to earth with a great deal of experience and very well connected. He got the charges dropped to a withhold misdemeanor trespass and no probation. Absolutely amazing. Ruddy comes with my highest recommendation.

This firm enjoys harassing local businesses. Mr. Adam Miller has been trying to enforce and invalid subpoena for the past 5 months. TRYING is the important word. His shortcomings with paperwork could mean the difference in your case. Use at your own risk!! I would not use an attorney who cant even force someone to produce the evidence needed to defend you or win your case.

If you're looking for a lawyer who gets the job done, fast and effectively, choose Todd Stern. I was a passenger in a car that was sideswiped by another vehicle that left me with neck and back injuries. The insurance company denied they were responsible and downplayed my injury. They offered me a laughably small amount of money for my case. I was then referred to Todd Stern and things took a turn for the better. Todd called and we had a thorough discussion about my case and you could tell Todd cared and listened . He knew exactly what the problem was with my neck and recommended which doctors to see to get me out of pain. He then filed suit and the other side denied they were at fault. Todd was able to force the other side to legally admit they were at fault, as he was able to skillfully argue my case and forced the two insurances involved to pay a settlement that has changed my life. He is incredibly good at what he does as a lawyer. He was thorough, listened to all my concerns, made a plan with me, and executed it perfectly. I can't thank Todd enough for all he has done. Choose Todd Stern, and he will do the same for you.

Where do I begin? My case was complicated. I had two accidents 27 days apart. In the first accident, I was rear-ended at a red light. The car had virtually no property damage to the eye, but I was injured badly. The second accident was a head-on collision, causing new injuries, and the injuries from the first accident worsened. Both drivers had little or no insurance, and I had to fall back on my own uninsured motorist coverage. You would think since you’re dealing with your own insurance company, that you would be treated well, especially since you have been with them since 1994. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I was hurt, and my own insurance company offered me virtually nothing. That’s where Todd Stern comes in. He thoroughly analyzed my case, legally and medically. He filed suit. He made sure all my medical issues were being addressed. He spoke with my doctors, got me the surgeries I needed by very qualified physicians, and helped me put my life back together again. He was very professional and attentive. I didn’t want to go into litigation, but he made me entirely comfortable and met with me for hours, and I was fully prepared. You could tell during my deposition that the opposing attorney had a lot of respect for him. When everything was said and done, my insurance company, who wanted to pay me virtually nothing, paid every cent available under each of my uninsured motorist policies from each accident!! The skills and passion Todd Stern displayed to make my complex case work was beyond compare. If you need a lawyer go see him.

I hired Bob to work on my case seeking legal action to be taken against several contempt instances, timesharing increase, child support reduction. The case lasted about a year and a half, during that time I provided evidence supporting contempt against a standing order as well as parental alienation which my ex even admitted to on the Talking Parents App. During the build, I was assured items such as attorney fees and legal actions against the contempt evidence would be a walk in the park. The day before the trial hearing, Bob informed me that neither of which were going to be obtainable, and the only items on the docket were timesharing and child support. I asked for one item to be put in place and that is a direct line of communication to my child, the topic was discussed and granted, however Bob allowed for the opposing attorney to write up the order where she deliberately not only left that part out but noted the complete opposite. When I approached Bob about this, he said that it was granted showing that he never even opened the filed order. Bob also allowed for the opposing attorney to factor in VA disability as income, while the legality of that is subjective, what is not is the fact it is federally protected and cannot be garnished (within the parameters of this case). As a result, my child support doubled, and my employer has noted that the legal limit for garnishment has been met.
Since the hearing I have reached out to Bob several times with no response. To fix this I somehow need to come up with thousands more while being the sole provider to a household of three to include a small child. I am writing this in hopes someone looking for an attorney does not make the same mistake I did in acquiring the services of Bob Stein as I assume you yourself will be piggybacking on this thread.

He wouldn't prep me for the hearing. "Forgot" about the hearing. I think he "forgot" because he knew he didn't have a law license that day.

I highly NOT recommend Mrs. Kay-Ann Waite. I hired her in April and at the beginning she told me it wasn’t going to take too long and it seemed she was going to work hard for me. Then, I had to constantly ask for updates since she didn’t provided any without me asking. I hired Robert L Spector, 2014 of June after a rear end accident. I was severely injured and currently in the process of undergoing surgeries .
Mr. Spector had my case for 2 years and didn’t resolve any issue or made progress.
My calls were ignored by him and his office assistant. When I attempt to contact him from a different number, my call was answer immediately.
I decided to make him aware, that I was unsatisfied with his service. I ask him to release my case, and I hired a new attorney.
Due to the statue of limitation, I was not able to recover the full amount of money that my case was worth.

Working with this lawyer was one of the worst experiences in my life. I hired a lawyer, my ex didn't, but yet he was able to keep all the marital assets. She didn't fight for me. She is not responsible or responsive. I had so many issues during my divorce. She failed to file paperwork until I said something. I always seemed to be losing my mind with her. She never kept me up to date with proceedings and what happened next. I would have to ask the morning of court for the information to access the zoom meeting when she had the information for weeks. Then when I would get upset about her work ethic, she would gaslight me and make excuses for her behavior rather than correcting or even apologizing. We discussed things, in emails, that she was supposed to take out of the final decree. She failed to do so and refused to correct her behavior. I will never recommend her to anyone.

I dont recommend my lawyer Tyrone only cared about money. After my retainer ran out he was hard to reach, communicating became difficult even though I was paying as I go deadlines were missed papers wasn't filled when they should. We had a medical malpractice case that lasted several years. But, through it, all George stayed dedicated to the case and really delivered. During the proceedings it was very evident that he and his team really did their research and they put on an excellent case. Also, throughout the process, he kept us informed of what his strategy would be and kinds of things we could expect during the depositions and trial. I used The Fab Law Firm to file my divorce and was quoted a price of 3,500 with a max price of 7,500 if we needed mediation. I paid the 7,500 upfront just in case. The case ended up not needing mediation because the ex-wife and I were able to reach an agreement on our own, which we sent to our lawyers to draft. In total I spoke with my point of contact less than 10 times on the phone and less than 20 times via email. I was charged over 6,500 dollars for the work because they charged me for every email they sent to me and or the other law firm, and at times sending multiple emails (conversations) and charging for each response. I am not sure of many of the items I was charged for because it was just shown as hours they logged for work done on my behalf. I really don't understand all of the work that was done because the ex and I wrote our own agreement and just needed it drafted into legal form and submitted. The lawyers in my case didn't negotiate or write any agreement on my behalf, they simply took the agreement the ex and I made and put it into form for the courts, submitted it, and we were done, but somehow my charges still reached over 6,000 when I was quoted 3,500 if we didn't need mediation. In addition I was giving access to a portal to communicate with them called CLIO, however they were very unresponsive and hard to contact there. My case closed July 16, 2024 and I am now waiting for a review before the remaining funds are returned to me. I was told that Felicia has 30 days to review the file before returning the retainer. However I spoke with them today (Sep 19, 2024) over 2 months after my case has closed and was told that she has now been tasked with doing the review but she hasn't got to it and doesn't have a date on when she can because she is busy. I am a entrepreneur myself and run multiple companies, which is why I feel that this is a completely unacceptable way to deal with a client. I don't usually write bad reviews but I do feel like people should be aware of my experience, and hopefully save them some of the trouble I've dealt with.

Listen,Listen,Listen. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR AWAY from this firm. This folks will lead you a stray and take all your money. They’ll provide you with very little help in your custody case and every step will require a 5K payment. Retainer 5k, mediation 5K, trial 5K. These folks will rob you blind and mislead you. Stay far away unless you got 20K to lose while they continuously threaten to drop you unless you pay up.
