Scott Needleman went above and beyond to help us. We were an incredibly unique case. We did not pass the means test for a Chapter 7, but Scott went to work and made it happen. Another twist to our story, my mother died the day after we filed. Associated with her death were some payable upon death beneficiary accounts. I called Scott he told me they would be the property of the bankruptcy trustee. The typical attorney would just give up at this point. Scott researched and found court cases in which these types of funds were treated like lottery winnings, they get to keep it. Scott presented his research to the trustee who agreed we could keep this large sum of money. Scott’s work for us made us feel like we won the lottery. Every attorney we interviewed immediately stated we had to file chapter 13 and I have no doubt we would have also lost the money my mother intended for us. Scott will work hard for you. He is worth the Money!!!!!!

To say McCarthy and his team gave me hope would be an understatement. Hope was something I never thought was possible. My parents divorced right at the time I was to attend an out of state university. On paper, my mom looked “fine” (able to support me according to FAFSA) so I didn’t get much help financially even though she was putting out a lot because of the divorce, having to relocate, etc. so I didn’t qualify for much of any federal loans/ grants. And being in my late teens, early 20s, I didn’t know better than to sign my life away to get the private loan support.
Flash forward after graduation, I found a job at a non-profit organization. The work was challenging but rewarding to be able to provide hope to those in need, but financially, like many other jobs out of college and non-profits, it didn’t allow me enough to keep up with the high interest rates and steady incline of my loans. Despite many efforts for financial assistance from the private loan lender, the payments began to exceed my monthly income. I exhausted my forbearance and thought to myself, “This is how my life’s going to be”
That’s when I found McCarthy. From the initial contact until the very last contact, they have been eager, humble, receptive, generous, and knowledgeable. To be able to speak to a person, not an automated message or system, but every day people was a treat in itself. They took time to explain me to how I can work towards gaining financial freedom and within a few years and a payment plan (without interest accumulating) I would be able to pay off the loan in its entirety. And not the amount it exceeded to (138k) because of interest, but the amount I took out from the beginning (108K) by negotiating the amount with the private lender themselves. I was able to focus on getting my life back, working the usual course to get promotions without the burden of paying an amount I couldn’t afford. And by having extra in my pocket, it made my job enjoyable again. I was able to give the best version of myself in all aspects of my life because, for once, I didn’t have to worry about “How am I going to make the next payment” The staff were beyond welcoming and remained that light, that beacon in my life since 2015. From Kelly who greeted me with a “It’ll be ok,” from Ali who said “Let’s look at getting a payment plan set up for you” to Joan who said, “I got you and will continue to fight for you” it was something that was not only refreshing, but humbling as well for me. The zeal exhibited by all that work at McCarthy Law is unmatched.
I was one of the fortunate ones to say that I am now 100% free of my private loans. 108k settled!! Joan worked real time magic in negotiating my loan amount to where I was able to receive a payment back from McCarthy of all I paid to them over the years, following settlement. They thought that was a blessing, but to me, they were my blessing. To top it all off, Kevin McCarthy reached out to me via mail congratulating me on reaching financial freedom. I just cried when I read it and it remains on my fridge as a reminder to this day. It took me a bit to write my testimony, partly because I’m still in disbelief that I’m free, but more importantly, because I wanted to take the time to write something from my heart, something they touched long ago.
I have recommended a few people to McCarthy and would recommend them to anyone who feels stuck, lost, and is experiencing hopelessness as a result of student loans. And just like they did with me, I’ll pay it forward as well.

When I torn about what to do with my credit card debt I googled for a bankruptcy attorney and came across Neil Ackerman's name. I guess Google liked me that day because I hit the jackpot. Mr. Ackerman's firm took the time to explain to me all options and did not force me into anyone. They were with me every step of the way and even after my bankruptcy was discharged.

I had interviewed several lawyers before I picked her as my lawyer. She was the only one who called me back directly. The other lawyers had their secretary called me instead. She also had a novel approach to my divorce. Unfortunately, it didn't pan out. Throughout the case, she represented me even when she had to taged out of my case due to personal issue, she still helped me find a new lawyer. Her price was the most reasonable out of all the lawyers I talked to. She is not the type of lawyer who is trying to squeeze as much money out of you. She is very caring. Even though my case didn't come out as I would like, I would strongly recommend her as your personal lawyer.

Alejandro was a pleasure to work with. My fathers case was very hard and no one wanted to take it. Alejandro was very upfront and honest about the case which I appreciated. Ms. Axmith is a lawyer who most definitely stands out. I called her office to leave a message at 10 pm and was surprised to find she picked up the phone because she was working late on a case. She gave me some initial advice that put me at ease, and didn't charge any consultation fees. My initial impression of her is that she is a very experienced and no-nonsense lawyer who would go to bat for you if you were being threatened or intimidated. I hired Kyle to expunge a class B misdemeanor back in 2013 or 2014. He called me throughout the whole process to keep me updated. There was not moment where I had to call to check up or wonder what was going on. The process only took a few months. I worked with Price Law Group through my Bankruptcy and From the moment I had my initial call in I was impressed with their customer service. They answered in a friendly manner and didn't sound angry or bothered with me like some other places I called. Unsure and having never been through a process like this they eased my concerns by first listening to my situation completely. I was frequently cut off and not allowed to explain the full scope of my situation when I spoke with other law firms. They first listened then they explained how they may be able to help me. They broke down the Bankruptcy process and how long it would take and how much it would cost. They even worked with me and allowed me to do a partial downpayment. The thing that impressed me most is the responsiveness when I have a question or concern. I would email Scott and have a response back literally within minutes addressing all my concerns in the email. Their prompt response time made me feel as if somebody was ALWAYS working for me and not as if I was a second thought. My wife and I were recently forced into bankruptcy and we were also wrongfully accused of committing a fraud in a business deal that led to our bankruptcy. The plaintiffs sued knowing that we did not have the financial resources to defend ourselves. Their reason for such an action is irrelevant here. I was forced to try and defend us without a lawyer.
Our case was complicated; I went weekly to the free legal clinics at the law library in Annapolis and attempted to educate myself in the subtleties of the legal systems. The task was daunting. During that time I talked many attorneys to get help, but we could not afford their services.
I met Wayne at the free legal clinic at the bankruptcy court in Baltimore. He gave me a lot of helpful advice and went back to perusing our case. A few months later I again visited the legal clinic and fortunately for me; I once again met Wayne. I asked if he could guide me in preparing my case.
I wrote a few motions and I asked Wayne to review them. He not only did he review my work; he assumed control of writing the motions I was seeking. He interviewed me and reviewed our documentation at length and he believed in me and our case. He knew that the plaintiffs did not have a creditable case; as he instructed me proving it is a different matter.
He took on this case with an energy and commitment that astounded me. Although he had other cases, he still made me feel as if our case was always at the top of his mind. He seemed to work day and night, he would call me at night, on weekends and during holidays. He pushed me hard to produce the documents that he knew we would need for the case.
As anyone can imagine this case was a very emotional and stressful ride for both my wife and I. Wayne was very good at taking the emotional anger out of the discussion and more importantly he was never afraid to tell me how it was and to take me task.
When we finally got to court, it was obvious that the plaintiff's case was without merit and they agreed to settle out of court by dropping the case. Without Wayne's help, I would have lost the case even though the plaintiff's case was without merit.
If you have the chance to work with Wayne, take comfort in knowing that you dealing with someone who will give you honesty, integrity and commitment.

Hello I just want to say I called the Civil hotline for free attorney advice. Mr. Wayne Clark picked up and after I explained my situation as far as all of the loan modifications that I have been doing with my bank and their denials. I also explained to him that in a panic state one night, I hired an attorney off a commerical and paid him almost $3,000 to help with a loan modification that was denied. Not knowing that the attorney had possibly done something wrong Mr Clark advised me what I needed to do to get my money back from that attorney. Mr. Clark also advised me in approx 1 hour what I was fearing all along. See I had been fighting to save my home for almost 2 years, thinking I could. He asked me questions and evaluated my salary the home loan as well as the value of my home. In doing that he gave me an assessment of why the bank probably kept dening my loan modification and he made me realize that unless my income increased substantially like ASAP that my chances of saving the home was not great, that was the honesty do I need it. All I did the past two years was kept fighting and the amount of my past due balance increasing, and the bank was letting it happen. The bank has given me unrealistic expectations based on my salary and the likelihood that I would be able to catch up on the past due balance. For the first time in 2 years I was hit with the best reality check that I needed. I went to my church and prayed with my pastor and then contacted a realtor who basically advise me of the same thing. I did exactly what Mr. Clark told me to do and contacted the attorney, told him to give me my money back within one week and if he did not the steps that I was going to take in getting the money back. That attorney panicked to my surprise and did not fight me. I had my money within 4 days honestly, I could not believe it, I thought that money was lost and gone and thrown down the drain. I'm now prepared to move forward and start again. I'm so thankful to Attorney Clark because basically my funds were gone and he helped me get my money back free of charge with his advice.
