I highly recommend Ms. Schmaltz! In an extremely emotional and challenging time she was excellent at working through the necessary steps and helped me immensely when further circumstances made my situation even more tramatic. My wife and I hired Ms. Schmaltz to assist us with an animal law case. We are dog breeders located in Washington State and one of our puppies was stolen from us and sold to a person in Arizona. Ms. Schmaltz was exceptionally easy to work with remotely and she helped us to come to a mutually acceptable settlement with the Arizona family. I met Carsen almost several years ago when I hired her. My case required a special kind of attorney who could think outside of the box, someone who would know how and when to mediate with the other parties, but also when to bring things to a judge. She is always there to coach me and work through the difficult issues that come up with a high tension case. Daniel A. Bachert’s a very kind and generous person . I have had an issue in family court in Texas and was beginning to feel completely overwhelmed and anxious . Mr. Daniel Bachert successfully represented me since 2015 in my case. I was all ready divorced and my ex-husband wanted to modify the child support. Even though the child support was modified, Dan was able to prove that my ex-husband was not only failing to pay child support, but the alimony and the court-ordered school expenses for over 10 years were also in arrears. My ex-husband was also found in contempt for failure to provide documents relating to the children. Mr. Dan Bachert provided excellent representation and service. He always gave me excellent legal advice. I will recommend him to anyone that has to go through any divorce proceedings.

I hired Dan after attempting to file what I believed was a simple custody and support arrangement regarding my then 2 year old daughter. Her mother had started refusing to allow me to see her, even though I had been sending her money to help with my daughter's expenses. I filed the initial paperwork and attended the first mediation on my own, believing that it would be simple. We were only together a short time but were not married, and I wanted to help raise and provide for my daughter. Unfortunately, her mother wanted me to provide for both of them and was determined to keep me out of my daughter's life until I agreed to her demands. I hired Dan because I quickly found out that the system favors mothers, and despite my intent, I was not going to be a part of my daughter's life if I didn't get legal help. Dan put me at ease right away. He worked closely with me over the next few months attempting to come to an arrangement that worked. Unfortunately, my daughter's mother held her position, and ultimately we had to go to court. My daughter's mother was extremely unreasonable and grasping at straws, making her volatile and unpredictable, but Dan was prepared for every possibility. His knowledge and professionalism kept me and my then fiancé calm and collected throughout the process. In the end, not only did Dan negotiate true 50/50 shared custody and cost sharing, but due to his presentation of the facts, I picked up my daughter the very next day. This was more than I could have hoped for after 7 long months of not seeing her at all. I highly recommend Dan as his expertise guaranteed me the chance to help raise my daughter and ensured she is part of my family as well as her mom's.

During the duration of my divorce I struggled with the sadness of it as well as feelings of being so alone. While my ex had already moved on...I was still trying to process it all...how do I go from here...how do I make ends meet....my only identity was wrapped around my husband...how do I start over? I felt so completely alone with two kids and a house to worry about. Needless to say I felt overwhelmed by the divorce process and the decisions that needed to be made. Oona has the ability to take the entire picture and break it out into what is important and not important. She can simplify the decisions based on what needed to be addressed at that time and what could wait or what didn't need to be addressed at all. Although she is sympathatic to your situation, she has the ability to keep emotions out of the decision making process. I felt this allowed me the confidence to make good, fair, clear decisions based on her advise even while I was an absolute mess. She was honest with me about what was worth fighting for and what was a waist of time. She understands the process and is confident in her abilities and this shows. I had such low self esteem at this point and really felt as though I would never recover and yet, Oona had a away of making me have just enough confidence to at least stand up for myself and my kids. Although my divorce was at the time heartbreaking to me, somehow with Oona's help I stood up for myself. I feel to this day that this was the best thing I have ever done!

Where do I begin... I was so ready to give up on everything and just hand my son over to my ex-which I know/knew was the stupidest thing I could have ever done in my life. I was so exhausted by the lies, the taunting, the horrible comments etc. constantly being spewed at me by my ex. It was as if, I was fighting this unbeatable monster in and outside of court, I was ready to give up, even with me being a fighter-and never giving up easily anything!!! But, at that time, I was mentally drained. My family and friends kept saying, "hire a lawyer!" initially- I didn't want to, but I knew if I didn't- I could lose my son to my ex with all the lies he constantly told. So, I went on Google, and googled-child support lawyer....and James Lukowiak aka Jim "popped up"- like neon green lights. I decided to reach out to him for a consultation. While at the consultation it was nothing, but good vibes. Jim listened to every single detail during the consultation, and I finally felt like someone understood my dilemma...someone understood the monster I was facing and was willing to stick it out with me and help me through the most difficult situation in my life. James is a very nice lawyer. He spent hours with me during the initial free consultation. I met with many lawyers in this area and none of them would spend much time with you during the initial free consultation. Actually, one lawyer tried to charge me for an extra 10 minutes after the first half hour free consultation. He knows the many details of your case because he is a very good listener. He has much experience in family law and thinks outside of the box. He pointed out several good arguments and strategies for my case that I did not think of, although I spent hours thinking every day. Most lawyers will ask me what I want them to say in court, but James is not one of them. He finds valid and strong arguments for my case. Without his expertise, I could have ended up signing an unfair agreement with my unreasonable ex and opposing counsel. If unfortunately, I have to go to court again, although I hope I don’t have to, I definitely want to keep this fighter on my side.

In a heartbeat I would Hire Mrs. Hightower again! Her work was exemplary. Her and her team are excellent communicators and tell you what she needs from you. Their response time to emails was usually within minutes, occasionally hours during the business week. Emails sent on weekends almost always had a response by 10am the following business day. When working with Mrs. Hightower and her team, I felt like I was a member of the team and not just the “paycheck”. During my time working with her team, I had one emotional reaction to something the other side had done, and her team was professional, courteous, and professional sympathetic during that event.
She does a fantastic job managing expectations and is very clear about what to expect. When I first spoke with Mrs. Hightower, my case was in another county and needed transferring. She said that we could not begin work on the case until it was transferred, and true to her word she got my case transferred and the first hearings scheduled as promptly as possible within the time frame that she predicted. I personally had two hearings with her- Temporary Orders and Final Orders hearings. During Temporary Orders she was honest about what to expect and that I would likely only get temporary custody of one of my three children, but we were trying for all three due to the really high bar we had to reach. This is ultimately what happened. When the other side refused to sign the temporary orders, she was quick to file a motion to admit into record and get signed by the judg. During Final hearings she stated that the bar to meet our desired end state was much lower and had a much higher chance of success given the information, evidence, and testimony. We were granted custody of all three of my children. Through all of it, in every in-person meeting and conference call she was always clear: We can be as prepared as we can be, and its still up to the Judge.
As a Father in Texas, I had a very low probability of being granted custody. I set out with the intent of doing everything Mrs. Hightower asked me to do, providing every document she asked for, and working as a member of the team; this was the best way to be successful - and it worked. If anyone were to ask me what advice to give when working with Mrs. Hightower it is this - be calm, collected, and pro-active. Do everything you can to control your emotions. Provide everything she asks for. Listen to her when she tells you what to expect. Always remember that despite whatever happens, and everything you have done to be successful, it’s still up to the judge. Mrs. Hightower and team (I can’t name you here, but you know who you are), THANK YOU!

Cheryl is a saint to me. As a single father in a child custody case my initial outlook on my situation was abysmal. My daughter is my life and soul. I felt I had no chance at keeping her with me, giving her the life she deserved. Cheryl fought beyond aggressively for me for 7 long years. She first won me full custody which to me was just unheard of. She then went 1000 steps further and won me the right to relocate to another state to give my daughter the life she deserved after all she had been through. I had been working through a divorce, thinking that we would not need a lawyer as we were attempting to split as amicable as a couple could in this day. Unfortunately, I think the court system frowns on Pro Se divorces and we found ourselves seeking an attorney to assist us through the nuances and legal-speak. Brad helped us migrate towards a clear path, cleared the way through some of the hurdles I had inadvertently constructed and actually shaved some of our final costs down from some of the leg-work I was able to successfully navigate. He was a pleasure to work with, did what he said and completed what he pursued for both myself and my ex-spouse. Danielle is great! I recently finalized my divorce which lasted about 1 year. From my first interaction with her, she was very attentive to my wishes and understanding of my hopes. I was blessed to find Ms. Davis and have her assistance in my Family Law case. After my ex-wife contracted a dirty and unscrupulous lawyer to “destroy my life”, as she said herself, I went through almost 2 years of fear and depression due to the threats and unimageable lies they made up about me in the process. Taking advantage of my ex-wife ignorance, her perverse lawyer kept throwing her against me, making false affirmations about myself and pushing us to go into court trials just to fill up her pockets, not caring at any moment about our mental health or even about our 5 years old daughter who was in the middle of all that. There aren't enough words to say how amazing Ms. Davis as an attorney. My case was fraught with high level conflict regarding custody of my 1 1/2 year old daughter, we were in a very unsafe living situation at the time and Genevieve took no stops to be present in her legal advice to get us out safely, she took my frantic calls on the weekends and guided my daughter and I both out of the situation (legally speaking).
After our temporary parenting plan was put into place, she worked tirelessly to prepare us for our Permanent Parenting Plan. She guided me through multiple protection orders and gracefully handled harassing calls from my ex. At all times Ms. Davis remains with a level head and exceptionally thorough in navigating the intricacies of both combative relationships and the legal system itself. My daughter's father struggled with following the rules in our Temp PP and her council successfully lead us through CR2A agreements, contempt orders and even a criminal case.
By the time we reached the Permanent Parenting Plan trial, we received every last thing we asked for, including the requirement of my daughter's father going to DV Dad's and Anger Management counseling. While my ex and I will never be "friends" through this process and counseling we are slowly learning to be civil.
