Divorce isn't a fun process, but Charlie Meyer's knowledge and approach to a difficult situation made it a little easier. Unlike other attorneys I consulted, he didn't tell me what I wanted to hear but instead what was a fair and likely outcome (even if it wasn't 100% in my favor). He has a very patient, encouraging, and casual manner that put me at ease. Charlie always got back to me even in my most hysterical moments, often early in the morning, often on weekends. I believe he has a good sense of personalities as well-- understanding how much information a client needs and wants and knowing, too, when to keep some of the unimportant nonsense quiet. Needless to say he has extensive knowledge of the laws in quite a few counties in and outside Philadelphia, and he seems to have a good rapport with lawyers/ masters/ judges in a courtroom setting.
If you're looking for a fair and balanced approach to your case--and for someone to put a lot of fight and effort into getting you what you deserve-- Charlie is a good choice.

Charlie Meyer has consistently been a supportive and knowledgeable resource. I have learned the value of his experience and benefitted from his ability to navigate family court. Charlie has always been fair and professional. What I appreciate most about Charlie’s council is his ability to balance being practical yet an advocate for his client. There have been times his advice regarding emotional matters like custody and support was not what I wanted to hear, but he shared his advice and listened to me. When it came time to go into court or negotiate with opposing council he demonstrated the ability to protect his client while always moving towards resolutions. Samantha handled my divorce 2 years ago. On top of being an outstanding attorney, she was supportive, understanding, patient, and knew when to push me and when to "wrangle me in". She is truly an expert in Divorce and Separation and everything that falls under that umbrella. I give Mr. McDowell a 10 star rating. 5 is not anywhere near enough stars. He is professional and I have hired him twice now for custody issues against the same father. I have walked into court confident every single time with Mr. McDowell and he ALWAYS wins my case. You cant believe all ratings that you see posted here. Mr Ray Neighbors, for instance, he is a troll. No offense to him, but do your research. He seems to really hit hard on the legal system and judges. I saw his rating and it infuriated me. Mr. McDowell is by far the best attorney around!!

Patricia (Patti) LaFrance esq. Is an amazing attorney. She did a very nice job laying out exactly what my expectations should be during my divorce. She quickly ascertained the nature of my case and the unique challenges that I was left to deal with. She is particularly well versed and known for her advocacy in domestic violence cases. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised when our Judge knew her by first name and referred to her work when she was with the prosecutors office. The judge certainly seemed to value her legal arguments and opinions. Needless to say I got a more-than fair result in my divorce. If I should ever be in the unfortunate need for an attorney then Patti is the very first person I am going to call. Thank you Patti for your incredible effort. Patricia was hired to assist in appealing a denied claim filed with our insurance carrier for a large employee theft that occurred at my company. I had been battling back and forth for well over a year with our carrier before dismissing our current attorney and hiring Patricia. Patricia had the issue resolved for us within a couple months and our claim was paid in full. She has also been assisting us with the ongoing criminal investigation of the former employee and has been instrumental in keeping a very slow process moving forward. Patricia is personal, smart and extremely competent. I'd highly recommend hiring her for your legal matters.

Although my case is still pending.. Zach has helped me tremendously with the most craziest requests and questions. Hes always answered every call or replied immediately with a short text he will call right back.. And he always does. Hes on top of everything, and works long and hard for his clients and their kid(s). He is understanding and tells it like it is.. A child custody fight... There arent enough words to express how much of an AMAZING Attorney Michael is. He sets the bar on the level of communication he has with his clients. He takes so much pride in his ability to fight for his client, that he studies each and every word in your case. There were details he remembered that I had informed him of, and as I thought I was notifying him for the first time, he finished my update all on his own, remembering every little detail, as if it happened directly to him. I forgot I had already relayed the update, but I cant even begin to describe the overwhelming feeling of comfort to know Michael was not just my attorney, he was someone who genuinely cared about me and my kids. We went to our hearing, Michael all prepared and excited to represent me, evidence and notes in one hand and confidence in the other. Michael is not a very tall man by any means, but the fight he had inside of him, the fight he used defending and representing me, was one of an army from Sparta!! As a mom, going through court against my kids father, who instigated constant chaos, is that last and the hardest situation you ever want to face in general, however, just to know that Michael was in my corner fighting with and for me and my kids, made this situation a bit easier to handle. Wow!! Mr. Carbone and his team has helped put my family back in order with his unbelievable talents in the court room. I was paying out the wazoo to my ex and barely seeing my child and Mr.Carbone assured me at the consultation that he could fix it for me. We went to court and after he started i thought to myself "This guy is out of his league, he needs to be in a big city with big shot attorneys". So I hired the lawyer Karen Suri this year for a modification of a restraining order/ visitation for my son. In this case I was the respondent for the case. Honestly, she was great, she answered all my questions in a timely manner and assisted me with those tough and private questions I had. Since this isn't my scope of practice I had a lot of questions :). She arrived promptly the day of the hearing and has kept me up to date with what is still left pending on my case. Amazing results!! I am so thankful for the team of Shelly Jean John and Stephen John and their excellent partnership as they managed my case to end the alimony payments to the ex-spouse. Stephen’s paralegal writing was excellent as he created the Request for Order for my case and took the time to ask me the detailed questions needed to present the facts needed by the courts. Shelly’s partnership with me was appreciated, her team’s timely communications kept me up to date as the case progressed through the courts, and the judge for my case worked well with Shelly also-always a plus! After 7 long years of paying alimony Shelly’s team was able to get it reduced to half the original amount for 1 more year and then ZERO after that. I’m done, no more alimony payments!! Like most, I never expected that I would find myself going through a divorce. This, however, was not the worst part of it. I was served with a temporary DVRO from my ex-wife that was full of the most slanderous statements that I ever could have imagined and an expressed desire to move out-of-state with our 6-year old daughter. I was feeling scared, desperate, and nearly without hope.
I was referred to Mr. Burton by a dear friend of mine and I wasn't sure what to expect. However, within a short period of time, he and I found our way to craft what we believed to be a winning strategy.
We were outspent 5 to 1 and went through a grueling six day trial. But, at the end, we kept my daughter with me and I feel a tremendous amount of gratitude to the work and dedication to the truth that Mr. Burton demonstrated during our shared ordeal.
With my divorce final and my daughter near me, I can, without hesitation, state that if I had any other attorney, I doubt my life would be the same.

We hired Jamra and Jamra for a volatile divorce and were super happy to have Michael Hanasab handle our case. There were lots of scary issues to contend with regarding child custody and allegations about unfairness in the divorce proceedings. Michael gave the best advice, although I wasn’t the best at following it, I did end up getting full custody of my children. I wish that all of this never happened but am very grateful to Michael for being the voice of reason. He was able to defend a lot of the unjust accusations and kept a calm demeanor throughout all of the drama. I will always be appreciative of Michael’s knowledge of the law and his ability to apply it with such precision. He is honest, reliable and professional. I was in a very stressful and critical phase of my divorce where I was being accused of some pretty untrue, but lethal things that could have caused me to not get the custody of my children I wanted and deserved. I hired Mike and he came in there and made the "clutch free-throws" when it counted. He responded perfectly to the opposing council. We ended up going to court and he walked in their looking highly polished and confident, not arrogant and made the opposing council so nervous, they had no choice but to back down and give me what was fair and reasonable.

I hired Michael (along with Grace Jamra) in 2011. I came over from another big firm as I had been disappointed with the direction of my ongoing custody case. At the time I hired Michael I was facing more litigation and hearings and an evaluation. Michael was able to talk to opposing counsel and made every attempt to calm the situation. He knew my case inside and out, was reachable when I needed him and guided me through some very tough times. When it came to the evaluation Michael was instrumental in helping to pick the right evaluator (something that took quite a while) and met with me on several occasions to answer any and all questions I had about the process. Needless to say, my case turned around and in the end Michael was able to get opposing party to settle (even though opposing party was adamant about fighting and going to trial).
As for cost, I had to laugh at the negative review here. I was charged triple that amount at my previous firm in a matter of months. The billing with Michael @ Jamra & Jamra was incredibly fair and hugely different billing practices than some of the bigger firms. I never once felt I was being over billed or double/triple billed like I did at my previous big firm. Anyone who is going into custody litigation needs to do research and realize that it is an expensive area of law and the more litigation involved the higher the costs. I wouldn't think twice before recommending Michael to others if they needed a good and competent custody/divorce lawyer.

When I made the determination to retain a lawyer for my divorce, I paid the money for three separate consultations to ensure I would get the best legal representation possible. Save yourself the money and hire Paula from the beginning. When I read the very first letter from Paula to the opposing counsel, I knew immediately that I made the right decision. Hiring an attorney who is going to play, what I would say is the most important part in protecting your parental rights and the best interest of your children can be a huge challenge. To make a long story shorter, I had met with three other attorneys and initially hired a firm who had a great marketing campaign and a good pitch man on site, I spent over $1800.00 and all that I got in return was aggravated, before I parted ways with them.
I spent a lot of time on line looking at reviews and reading bio's and talking to a few attorneys over the phone. I can't say exactly what it was that made me decide to go and meet with Paula, but I can tell you that it was the best decision I could have made.
I walked into the office and Julie, Paula's assistant (also a rock star) handed me a questionnaire, I filled it out and waited about 15 minutes and then was walked back to Paula's office. She asked me to tell my story, eventually stopping me, because I rambler and it would have cost me a lot of money, b the time I ran out of words. I mentioned the other attorneys that I had met with... They all told me that my ex wife had my boys the majority of the time, but Paula said "You have your boys 52% of the time, I disagreed and told her she was wrong, she slid a printout across the table and said "Is this your schedule?" I told her it was, she said "Then you have your boys 52% of the time.
I hired Paula, because she cut to the chase, she didn't waste my time and didn't allow me to waste my time, by rambling on about things that weren't relevant to my case. I left her office and before I made it back to my house, she had already contacted my sons private school, to verify what I pay for their school and informed me that I shouldn't be paying any child support. I had been paying for 9 years. The first firm I hired had figured it at $519.00 per month. Also, after having my boys pretty much every Thursday through Sunday for 8 years, the judge would have set temporary custody for every other weekend, but Paula stood up and said "You can't do that your honor" and we were able to maintain a better schedule.
Todays date is August 21st, 2020, I hired Paula in February of this year. We went to trial August 19-20 and I couldn't have been more pleased. She was prepared and to say she presented a very organized case, would be an understatement. I knew that she and her assistant Julie had worked really hard, but I was really in awe of what had culminated from their efforts. Paula was very aggressive in her presentation and didn't let the apposing counsel get away with anything.
We won't know the outcome of the trial until the judge reviews the case, but I can't imagine anything, but success, based on Paula's performance, both in the court room and before. I would highly recommend hiring Paula for any family law issues.

Emily (aka "Sandy") Bair is a woman of immense intellect, with the determination to do her best for her client. She is a woman of few words, but every word she speaks counts. She will never ramble on either in her office or in court. Judges respect that. Her preparation is meticulous. She will cut you off if you rattle on, to remind you that you are paying her to hear you vent, and that there are cheaper people to vent to.
My case had been going on for seven years when she took it over. I had just been through a hearing using another attorney. Having already been found in contempt, I hired Sandy Bair who appealed part of the court order and convinced the court to reduce my penalties as the action giving rise to the contempt had been performed by me immediately following and in accord with the specific and express legal advice of my former attorney.
Ms. Bair is now handling my QDRO/pension problems as my divorce was in 2004 and I still have not received the pension benefits I was awarded in the divorce. QDRO's are a very specific part of the law that is very complicated. She has done much legal research in that area and is very well-versed in the particulars of QDROs.
If you are looking for sweet and chatty, don't hire Sandy. If you are looking for an intelligent, experienced, straight-talking, hard-working, honest lawyer who can cut through legal BS- she is all that. I also think she is a female lawyer that men would be comfortable hiring.

Ms. Bair handled a very contentious divorce case and subsequent alimony modification action for me. My ex-wife tried hard to litigate numerous extraneous issues, engage in abusive discovery and take unnecessary depositions. I am an attorney myself, and she worked to avoid inflaming a hostile plaintiff and move the case to a settlement. She is known for those skills.

We used Stephanie on two occasions. Initially, we hired Stephanie Ames to do an adoption for my husband and I. As with many family cases, it can be an emotional roller coaster. Since this was our first adoption experience we had many concerns, questions, and fears. From the beginning we were given advice, straight forward,and most importantly correct information. Natalie made the best out of a bad situation. Divorce sometimes comes out of nowhere, and when children are involved the emotional toll that takes can be paralyzing.
