I Amy of Meriwether & Tharpe to represent me for a very difficult divorce. Latrese (Amy) has been a truly great person to work with. I have been using her firm for a modification to my original divorce decree. My first experience with my original lawyer was a complete joke. I was represented by Latrese Cooper in my recent divorce and child custody case and was very pleased with her service to my children and me. As many divorces are complicated, mine involved many details such as circumstances of illness and domestic violence, an out-of-state civil protection order, out-of-state residence, and accusations of mental illness and being a unfit parent of my 2 young children. From the very first consultation, Latrese listened for detail. Although not required of legal counsel, she possessed an empathy for me that was evident and I know that when she promised to work hard for me she meant it and always followed through. Latrese took the time to explain the divorce process to me as it was ongoing and also did what she could to expedite things. For the status conferences, Latrese made efforts to ensure that I could appear before the judge via telephone as I was already residing out-of-state and the cost of travel would have been an undo burden on my children and myself. During trial, I felt very confident to have Latrese on my side and trusted that I was being represented very well. Professionalism, internal strength, and confidence exuded her and I believe that the opposing counsel was not nearly as well prepared for the trial and was seemingly intimidated by Latrese's outstanding preparation and skills. I would highly recommend Latrese for any one with a pending divorce, especially those whom may have been victimized throughout a marriage. I never needed a lawyer until I was rear ended and it was so clear cut who was at fault I thought I was able to handle it myself but after about a year I decided it was too much stress work and hassle so I shopped around and I was looking for the lowest price attorney which I think was Brett and I'm glad I found him so down to earth humble and a great office environment because it's just basically him and the secretary you will deal with which is very comforting well he handled everything made all the Timely calls and appointments even offering us rides when we needed it. He's such a nice guy but knows the law even the other side likes him. Lots of experience I would use him again and recommend him highly. He's the type of lawyer that you would want to be friends with afterwards. We ended up settling in mediation so I didn't get a chance to see him go to trial which would be a good idea to do if you can before you hire him. Has a very nice office location that's very reassuring and in a nice location. Be sure to go to Pho Xpress right around the corner for a good meal at a reasonable price. So if you ever need a lawyer don't handle it yourself it's a waste of time and one more thing about Brett is you get the feeling he is not a crooked lawyer which is a plus when you are in the right! And the top it all off and I'm not implying it may happen to you but maybe because I was such a good client and we did a lot of the paperwork to a degree he even gave me a percentage of his settlement probably because of the pain and suffering I had to go through and how tight the other side was which was Allstate Insurance. Another reason I was blessed to find him by happenstance was because I was looking for a lawyer who was near me and he was also he always return phone calls right away and emails and he communicated very thoroughly and patiently from the beginning to the end not like some lawyers who are so friendly in the beginning to get you to sign with them but then afterwards they are more colder but not Brett he was very professional and kind to the end. San Diego is blessed to have him living here helping us get a fair trial, Justice and compensation for our pain and suffering. And if I was to share some advice I would say don't use your own credit cards on different doctors like I did searching all over for a cure because the other side will not settle soon enough and you have so many fees and interest that my credit is ruined. I I would recommend just send one group of doctors and just have one bill and that based on contingency of a settlement that would have resulted in so much less stress and problems in my life. There is a really nice place in Hillcrest call fix body group and they handle everything there I went there and should have stayed there to my healing was complete which it never was but then again I had to do a bunch of injections and Kaiser really did me right but they couldn't feel the pain short of major surgery to replace my neck bones with screws and pieces of metal. But now I heard they have new treatment where they will take a cadavers bone and if it's a match can fix your neck which I may still do in the future. Anyways don't drink and drive or get distracted by the radio your cell phone or any other sightseeing please just look ahead all the time and do not tailgate and be prepared for for a car to stop at anytime even on the freeway in the middle of the day in perfect weather. There's no need to speed or tailgate if you do you risk much pain and suffering for yourself or others and in the end it only saves you a few minutes better to be safe than sorry and an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. You will get there when you get there life is too short to have to go through it with pain for the rest of your life!

I have been working the phone the past few days in a attempt to get legal advise and hire a lawyer. The last several offices I called either did not answer their calls or had a receptionist take a message only to never hear from them again. The one or two who did answer my call either had no interest or did not practice in the area I required. Neither offered any advise or a referral. Then I got lucky and gave Brett Peterson a call. Brett did not practice in the area I needed however he spent the last 15 minutes, giving me referrals and advice on how to proceed forward. I appreciate and value Bretts honesty and advise. I contacted Dr. Barnes regarding an employment issue that I was dealing with. This review is based on my previous experience with a different Attorney and Law Firm compared to my recent experience with Dr. Stephen Barnes
My previous experience with Attorneys has been that they are extremely busy with an overload of cases. As a result, they often overlook critical details with a client's case. Additionally, clients have to constantly follow up with the Attorney to continue moving the case forward with the hopes of a positive outcome.
This was not the case with Dr. Barnes. Stephen was immediately responsive when I reached out to him. He actually answered his phone the first time I called him. More importantly, he took the time to read the critical information that I sent to him prior to our initial in person consultation.
I spoke with Dr. Barnes several times over the phone. Stephen also helped me with a document that I needed to sign for my company. Without Dr. Barnes help, I would have not been able to counter the contents of the document. Stephen continued to field my telephone calls and provide advice. Dr. Barnes ultimately referred me to another Attorney, who was more specialized with my employment issue.
I would highly recommend Dr. Stephen Barnes. In this day and age, it's very difficult to find an excellent Attorney that will take the precious time to fully understand your concerns and help you navigate through the complex legal system.

It is with a grateful heart that I write this attribute to a woman who has been there through thick and thin for my family, and showed us that it is not as stressful a situation we were anticipating. Bettina Altizer, of Altizer Law, PC came to me as a result of just searching for an attorney to assist us with a wrongful death situation way back in 1998. We were in turmoil after the stressful death of my mother in law, and we were so very confused. It was not that we wanted a windfall, that could never replace Mom. It was because of the situation that the person in question was still allowed to possibly hurt others.
Well, Bettina understood and fully invested herself, heart and soul, to help us feel that justice would be done. Bettina helped us feel better about this legal matter, and did everything she could possibly do to make it less painful in each and every way, ways that we never even imagined.
All calls were taken immediately, or we were called back within a very short time frame, every step of the way we were kept informed of the process and what to expect in the near future. Bettina also let us know that we were not bad people for doing what we felt was the right thing to do.

I call him a great defender because, he fought tooth and nail to speak for me. In the beginning I tried to do it on my own and realized it was bigger than me. I even did mediation with party involved through the EEOC, and I felt like I was being bullied. After talking it over with my family, I sought out a lawyer. I met with Mr. Bybee and his team, and they was so kind. He heard my side of the story and said I had a case, so I hired him. From there, every time I had a mediation with the other party he was there to speaks for me. I no longer felt like I wasn't being heard or I was just a small person in a big company. We spoke on the phone and even through email. If he didn't write back right away, I knew he was in court defending another person. When he was done though, he always responded. When my case came to a closing we did settle and I walked away grateful to him. He is a very caring and family oriented man. Mr. Laufar not only approached the case as requested, he also introduced other variables that resulted in a larger award. He explained parts of the law that we were not aware of at the time. Had we gone to Mr. Laufar 6 months earlier, we would have had a much larger award than obtained at the end of the case. While driving southbound on I-5 in Tacoma an underinsured motorist sideswiped a dump-truck causing it to spin around and go north in the southbound lanes and hitting us head-on. We were crushed between the spinning dump truck, the car that caused the accident and the car that rear-ended us. We hired Schroeter Goldmark & Bender to represent us.
The insurance carrier for the underinsured motorist paid us the limits under their policy. Our own insurance company basically made an offer of zero to cover life-altering and permanent injuries.
Our team at SGB of Adam Berger, Sergio Garcidueñas-Sease, Lindsay Halm and Alder Burgess took over for us. One of the most important things they did was to shield us from the stone-walling, delaying tactics of our own insurance company to whom we had paid premiums for more than 30 years. From the beginning they handled the case as if it would end up in litigation. You need attorneys like SGB that have your back and are not afraid to go to court if that is what it takes.
They had the added challenge of doing this during Covid. Thank goodness for Zoom conferences. We ultimately got a court date. Two months prior to our court date, we went to mediation, via Zoom. We didn't hold out much hope for mediation, but we were willing to make an attempt. What a surprise when the insurance company came to mediation finally willing to negotiate. After a full day of the mediator going back and forth between Zoom rooms, we came to a fair monetary settlement. We are convinced that the insurance company, even then, was only willing to negotiate because, Adam and the rest of his team were well prepared bulldogs willing to go to court if mediation failed. As they like to say, "This was not their first rodeo".
A car accident is horrible. You need the best attorneys you can find to protect your interests. Besides being professional and knowing the case inside and out, Adam and the rest of his team are compassionate and truly care about their clients. We strongly recommend them to anyone who needs their service. Without Adam and SGB our insurance company would have paid us nothing.
