I tried unsuccessfully to have my daughter legally adopted by my wife. We are all from South Africa which made everything very hard to arrange. Regina was my saving grace. I thought I could handle on my own what was supposed to be an "uncontested" case. Long story, short, the case was contested and I ended up being strung along, but I was just not strong enough to manage the situation. Things only escalated and were getting worse after each interaction. I finally gained enough confidence to do what I should have done in the first place - hire a skilled attorney who was not afraid to go the distance if it were necessary. I was surprised at how quickly things got resolved after Regina took over and laid out the path necessary if the case were to go to trial. I just wish I would have hired her sooner. She was worth everything I paid her.

Mindi is bright, sharp, intuitive, and bold. At our first mediation, the opposition came in and demanded everything. I'll never forget Mindi roaring, "We aren't agreeing to any of that!" I knew in that moment that I was in really good hands.I felt protected and empowered.
Throughout our very long, drawn-out case, Mindi and her team made sure to advise me on all of the big things and all of the small things. I appreciated her insight on how to respond (and how not respond) to unreasonable emails, requests, and accusations. Mindi and Yanna were always available to council me on minor issues that would come up between me and my problematic co-parent. I contacted Guichard St. Surin just a few days before my hearing for a restraining order. I was nervous because the opposing party had a lawyer and being told how hard it was to get a restraining order. I presented my evidence to Guichard the morning of my hearing. He brilliantly put together and addressed the court with my case that had the opposing party running to offer us a settlement for a 1 year restraining order. Guichard discussed it with me and knew we could go all way and get a permanent restraining order so we declined the offer. In the end the judge came to a decision and granted us a permanent restraining order. I am so grateful to find such a skillful lawyer that could execute my case and present it to the Judge with confidence. Thank you Guichard!

Where do I start? I hired Andrew 2 years ago for a divorce and he's been a godsend. I don't think I would've been able to get through my divorce without him. He was always available to speak with me and answer my questions even if they were silly. He is very sharp and on top of his career. He knows his stuff. I had a rather complicated divorce and a difficult ex and he handled it like a champ every step of the way.

Attorney Nickolaou represented me on a gender name change. He was so down to earth and understanding and knew his stuff about name changes and the gender marker change process. He also was not judgmental at all like a couple other attorneys I spoke too were when they realized I was transgender. Mr. Gary Williams is a smart, thoughtful, knowledgeable and tenacious attorney. We recently settled an ongoing dispute regarding the enforcement of the terms of a prenuptial agreement. It was an arduous and frustrating 5 year long process as my ex fought us every step of the way. Mr. Williams and his staff stood by me through this whole ordeal with understanding and patience and ending up getting me a deal that was fair and protected me from my ex. My ex is a very vindictive person and I was concerned he may seek retribution now that the case was settled. Mr. Williams took my concerns to heart and included language in the settlement barring him from harassing me in the future. That meant a lot to me. His staff is also wonderful. Very professional and helpful. In addition, Mr. Williams’s staff ending up saving me some money on fees as he is able to delegate certain tasks to paralegals and other staff members that bill at a much lower rate. My ex initially had a lawyer that had no staff and ended up paying much higher legal fees as everything his attorney did was billed at the attorney’s rate. I posted a question regarding divorce proceedings that I am currently involved with and Ms. Drake was kind enough to answer me accordingly. I ended up messaging her and we began to communicate so I took the liberty of regurgitating my situation in detail regarding how I was mistreated by the Petition's Counsel.
She gave me solid advice and explained some differences in procedures from her jurisdiction versus mine. She didn't seem to mind that I just dumped a years worth of legal situations in her ear as she kindly and politely replied to me without judgement. I have had quite a few interactions with male attorneys and not too many interactions with female attorneys. I'm not attempting to make this a male/female battle but I am finding that there is something much better with regard to female attorneys. Male attorneys don's seem to take the time to actually read or listen to what one writes or speaks and Ms. Drake definitely read and listened to me because she answered my questions directly and to the point with clear and concise responses. She practices in Jacksonville Florida and does not venture out very far from her county's jurisdiction. If she did, I would very much consider retaining her as my counsel due to her attentiveness itself. Besides her photo displays a very warm and kind smile.

I hired Aimee to help me with my uncontested divorce. I had originally hired another attorney who was not being responsive. Camy Schawm Wilcox and her team are some of the best family law attorneys in Central Florida. Camy handled my divorce and dependency case involving a termination of parental rights. I believe Camy is the only family law attorney in Central Florida who could have achieved the outcome we did, most attorneys in the area were simply not qualified or willing to take on a case this complicated.
Camy was on top of everything from day one and addressed every curveball thrown at us with speed and efficiency, (and boy were there a lot of them). Camy is very honest and straightforward with her thoughts and opinions. Personally, I love that! I never found myself wondering what she meant when she said something. I tend to be blunt myself and appreciate direct communication.
Camy can absolutely be aggressive in court when she needs to be however she’s also very respectful and courteous to all parties involved in your cases. Camy works very hard for her clients and makes it a point not to engage in unethical or unprofessional behavior. Even when the opposing side is engaging in this type of behavior Camy maintains her integrity. Time and time again, the outcomes in the end were a good reflection of her professional behavior. This certainly doesn’t go unnoticed by the judges or their assistants either.

Camy even worked my case from her mother’s hospital bedside when it became necessary and it wasn’t uncommon to see an email come through during the evening hours. That said, when there’s nothing really happening (which happens a lot in the court system), Camy NEVER bombarded me with trivial things just to bill hours. If everything was quiet, then everything was quiet. This can be nerve wracking, however running up your bill with unnecessary questions and comments when there’s no reason would be nerve wracking as well.
Camy, associate attorney Leah, paralegals Gio and Shannon, and firm administrator Debbie are an incredible team of professionals who worked tirelessly for my family. They are absolutely the ONLY attorneys who could have done what they needed to do to protect innocent children from being placed in harm’s way due to a biological connection.
I highly recommend Camy and her team to anyone who needs a family law attorney or an attorney for a dependency case. I haven’t had a need for representation in any of the other areas of law that the firm practices in, but I wouldn’t hesitate to call them should the need arise. Camy doesn’t take on cases in areas of the law that she isn’t familiar with and if something happens to come up that she isn’t familiar with, (as it did in my cases) she never hesitated to reach out to a colleague for assistance. That speaks volumes about her character to me.
My cases certainly were not considered “normal” circumstances and this firm fought long and hard for my family until we were ALL safe. For our family, they are Superheroes!! I still think of these ladies often and my youngest still asks about them and misses them too! After going through something like we did with an amazing team of “Superheroes” standing beside us throuought the duration, there is a fondness in my heart almost like that of family that just can't be explained in words. I am finding it difficult to even put into words how grateful I am for the work Todd put into my family law case.
From returning phone calls on weekends, to filing emergency documents in the middle of the night, he was there with me every step of the way. I heard from many friends their lawyers were extremely condescending and unresponsive, so I was worried what I may encounter during my journey. I couldn't have asked for a better attorney than Todd. He took my case personally and does not even utilize a paralegal for his practice. He is hands on and does everything himself. He lives and breathes for his work.
Our intitial consult was on a Sunday. I called his answering service and he returned my message within minutes. While he never pressured me to retain him for my case, I hired him on the spot. It was the best decision I made.
My case was invovled and he had the knowledge and experience to see it through, despite many complications along the way. He definitely took an outside the box approach to several matters that ended up closing the case.
No one expects to need a family law attorney. However, should you find yourself in that position, Todd is an excellent choice.
Andrew was also briefly involved with my case and while we did not have much interaction, I was impressed by his compassion and appreciated the time he took to offer his insight as well.

In 2006, I went to meet with Carol Caldwell. I was not in a happy situation and concerned about my future. A friend recommended I write a few notes about my situation. My notes turned out to be five pages typed single-spaced. When I met with Carol, I told her I had notes. She read the five pages. She looked at me and asked if I had any idea how much danger I was in. That was when the walls of shame and secrecy came crashing down.
My husband was severely abusive, but I was too ashamed to admit it. Carol lay down her requirements: I needed to get in contact with Betty Griffin House for a place to stay and counseling before she'd begin the process. Once that happened, she moved fast. I had an injunction in two weeks and the divorce was final in six weeks.
To say she changed my life is an understatement. She saved my life. She did not accept a case for the sake of work. She focused on my safety and well-being.
