I speak from experience and I would have to say I was hesitant at first since this was the first time our family has dealt with this kind of situation. My son was taken from his mother by DCFS I didn’t know this happened until 4 and half month after he was placed in a strangers house ! And this was the second DCFS case the first one I was the victim that didn’t press charges or show up to the case because my logic was I was the victim in that case so how do I need to show up ? Well I was very wrong and my rights to my son were limited to 1 supervised visit per year! So for 4 years I was basically paying her to see my kid and I was paying large sums of money to do so. When I showed up to court, the court provided me with so free but terrible lawyer I left court and was reaching out to her and her office with no response calling 4-5 times a day for over a week and that wasn’t gonna work! So I literally meet or had phone conversations with every attorney that deals with these type of cases and I only had a good feeling about Matt so I retained him he promised to get me full custody of my son and we came up with a solid game plan and instructed me every step of the way he was also was my therapist and a very patient friend because I too was in the system when I was a child so I was very hard to witness my child going through the same traumatic situation , Long story short Sole physical custody and the mom only gets a 4 hour visit per month this was my dream and it’s a reality now !!!

It has been a long road for me for the past 5 years on probation. It was really tough, but with the help and expertise of Dan Greene I was able to survive and successfully completed my probation on May 10, 2020. He did an EXCEPTIONAL and PHENOMENAL job from start to finish. Dan cleared the pathway and guided me properly all the way till the end. He saved me from all my miseries especially with my immigration status as permanent resident that I could be facing deportation if not for Dan. It was really remarkable and turning point in my life and my family. He gave me life and freedom. I hired Mr. Shapiro at a horrible time when my life fell apart very publicly because of a poor choice of mine. David was very helpful at shooting straight with me, as well as teaching me, my wife, and my family about the different nuances, definitions, and options of the legal system (which is a disappointingly designed system). Words cannot express the gratitude, the heartfelt obligation she provided for me during my fight for justice. She is the best.
I was wrongly accused of a violation of the law that I did not commit.
I was extremely emotional, I dealt with anxiety and panic attacks. She did not judge me, she comforted although I was having emotional breakdowns. I was able to rely on her judgements, her sincerity and her efforts to fight.

Not to knock my Public Defender, but she had already written me off after a 90 second conversation, and told me I should plead guilty to a deal without asking more than 3 questions. I almost just accepted this, but knew I wasn’t guilty and decided not to be a victim of the system built to protect me.
I first called Decio to ask his opinion on my case, and I immediately felt he was invested in finding out the full details and did not jump to any conclusions. After our brief 10 minute phone discussion, he laid out a few ways he thought the case could go, but offered to meet in person the same day to provide a more in depth assessment. We met at his office, which is very warm and welcoming, and went to a private conference room where for about 30 mins he and I discussed the case, after which he told me how he thought he could best fight the case for me, and that all hope was not lost as the Public Defender had made me feel at my initial hearing. His confidence in me and what I was telling him convinced me he was going to be not only my best chance at a fair outcome, but to deal with someone who looked at me as an individual, not just another case number to get through.
Throughout the case, Decio personally reached out to me at least a dozen times to keep me up to speed, to ask for meetings, info, etc.... I never once had to go looking for him. When he explained something over the phone that I just wasn’t sure or clear about, he always invited me to come meet at the office to work through things, always reassuring.
The longer our relationship grew, the more I could feel him becoming personally attached to my outcome, and it really felt like I had someone on my team who wanted not only the best outcome for the case, but for my life moving forward in general.
If you’re on the fence about whether to hire a private attorney, I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Decio, and am so very certain now making the call to him changed the path my life was headed. With the public defender, I’d be living the rest of my life with a conviction and the stigma and shame for something I wasn’t guilty of. With Decio, NO CONVICTION, CASE DISMISSED! And also, just as important, I don’t feel like a helpless civilian who can be railroaded into guilt, I know that if you have the right help, you can push back!

Michael Phillips was a savior in my DUI case. I would not have received the right judgments without him. He went through my case throughly and knew that I was treated unfairly. He went above and beyond all expectations. I won my DMV Court Hearing, which saved me from losing my license. To be honest if I lost the DMV court hearing I would of lost my job and my long distance relationship with my now husband would of suffered. He lived in San Diego and I lived in Huntington Beach, so driving to see each other was important. My court case was then dropped from a DUI to a Wet In Reckless.

I hired John Forsyth to help me get my husband out of jail after he was arrested on a fugitive warrant when, unbeknownst to us, charges were filed against him in another state. It took us 9 very stressful days to get him out, and I don’t know what I would have done without John Forsyth. Hiring John to defend me in my case was the best thing I could have done. John is a true professional through and through. He is hard working, diligent, tenacious, and extremely knowledgeable. He is a straight shooter, and very focused, and keeps his clients informed at all times as to the goings on involving their case, no matter how small the detail may be.
John and his amazing defense team represented me in a sexual case where I was falsely accused, and was facing multiple charges that would have resulted in possible life sentences. My case dragged on for 3+ years in part, due to the closure of the court system due to the pandemic, and John stood by me every step of the way. Throughout the entire ordeal, John worked on my case with true professionalism, and always kept me updated as to what was happening, and what was the next step we would be facing as the proceedings continued. Knowing the severity of the accusations I was facing, John also acknowledged my fears and anxieties throughout the case, and displayed a very compassionate side as well by always encouraging me to stay strong.
As the prosecution continued to try different tactics ( ie...attempting to raise my bail, adding charges ), John always had answers that negated all of their attempts. John and his team responded to every "curveball" the prosecution threw at them in a timely and professional manner.
Ultimately, a plea was offered for a much lesser charge, and we agreed, as this would be absolutely the best possible outcome to what were the original charges. Although I didn't receive the full exoneration I had hoped for, I owe my freedom an my life to John Forsyth.
To anyone who is facing criminal charges of any kind, I highly recommend you look no further than John Forsyth. He is amazing, and between him and his team of professionals, I personally can not imagine you would find anyone better than John.

I've never written a Google review before but I had such a positive outcome in my case that I'd like to recommend Ms. Kopelman's practice to those in need of an attorney who can support you through your ordeal. I spoke with a few attorneys when I found myself involved in an unexpected legal mess. I was really frustrated just trying to figure out legal representation, which I've never needed before. Some attorneys were impossible to even reach. I got a lot of answering services. Some attorneys honestly explained why they COULDN'T help me. I was scared and needed help. Lisa Kopelman's name had been given to me by a friend who's son had used her. I left a message with her service at the end of a business day and was shocked and relieved when she called me back the same afternoon.
Lisa made an appointment with me for the very next day and, for the first time since my problem started, I started to feel like maybe there was a way forward. I did not realize the full scope of my situation until Lisa heard me out and put everything into a legal context. I was actually more concerned about some issues that turned out to be more about my reputation than actual legal problems. Lisa distilled the real legal matters and outlined a comprehensive plan of action.
I'm an educator and tried to research the laws and court precedents. I felt pretty informed and totally overwhelmed. That's when a colleague pointed out to me that getting a lawyer is like going to a surgeon. You learn what you can about your condition but you have to put yourself in the hands of the expert when it comes to the actual surgery. So you better make sure you're in the best hands possible. And you have to trust they have only your best interest at heart and they know exactly what you need.
It may sound hokey, but this made perfect sense to me. Once I realized that I had done my due diligence in selecting Lisa, I decided it wasn't helping me or my case to worry constantly. I hired an attorney who I felt had a ton of experience and who would turn over every stone to help me and not miss anything. I can't say I ever felt completely safe during the whole ordeal but I did feel like I'd done all I could and Lisa would take it from there to do everything she could. She was very serious about being thorough.
In the end, I was spared a lot of unnecessary court appearances and Lisa negotiated a resolution, with the other parties involved, that I thought greatly favored me. Not everything went completely my way but I know it went as well as possible. I told Lisa that I hope I never need her services again but it gives me great peace of mind to know she's there.

I hired Mr. Daley of the Innocence Legal Team last year (2012). My case was quite unique as there was virtually no case law relating to my situation. Mr. Daley was in constant communication with me in regards to the approach we had to take in order to resolve my issue.
