Amanda represented me after I was selectively pulled over by police when driving away from an animal rights-related protest in Beaverton, OR. The protests had become a regular occurrence, and police in the area had started responding with various forms of threat and intimidation, mostly utilizing the legal system. At that point, there had been some arrests, but one tactic the police adopted was pulling people over as they left the protest under random pretenses in an effort to harass protesters and stick them with fines. Their logic was to increase the cost of protesting, hoping to deter through the bureaucracy of the legal system. I had been targeted by the police and pulled over multiple times. I wanted to challenge one of the tickets I received, for "improper signaling", and Amanda represented me in a challenge against the city and the police. After requesting discovery and making it clear that this little traffic violation would be turned into a political case to investigate the city's complicity in quelling protected speech, the City Attorney decided to drop charges. Thanks to Amanda, we were able to mitigate the threat against activists and show the city of Beaverton that they couldn't arbitrarily use the police so easily and not face consequences and challenges. She was a pleasure to work with and a true advocate for activists.

To defend me, Amanda was able to compile a 17-page necessity-defense speaking to the subsistence needs of the Inupiaq people, The Climate and the sensitive ecological systems of the Arctic. Her work brought my fine down to a manageable $5000 dollars, which my community will be able to raise.

Steve was amazing. When we met for the first time he listened carefully to the entire story and asked pertinent questions. He advised me of what the entire legal process would be like. Without getting into actual details, I will give you my experience with him. 10 years ago after spending money on the "Big Name" Attorney's in Tampa (who did nothing and had no plan) I ran into Mr. Baer, the new guy out of Texas. He made no promises but did some things at the time I thought were CRAZY! I was thinking "that sounds good, but just like the other Attorneys told me, no way they are going to go for that" I had that planted in my head, but Mr. Baer told me all they can do is turn us down. Still not convinced however, I let him do it his way. Now that I look back on it you can't do "normal things" and expect "crazy results" You have to be a little bit crazy if you want to crush it. That is exactly what he did CRUSHED IT! Everything he asked for we got! Stephen Baer is legit! If you have a Federal Case and you don't at least have him look at it. YOU ARE DOING YOURSELF AN INJUSTICE! Not that I would ever want to go through that again, but if I did the only person in my Corner I would want. Would be be Attorney Stephen Baer. Can't thank him enough. I just ran into his name again (10 years Later) while searching for immigration Attorney's. Couldn't be any happier. I will be hiring him again, if he will take my case.

My Son and and I met Ellen Saideman due to a Plan drawn up at his high school, by his Teacher and the school Therapist. This Plan stated that due to my Autistic Sons' stress level and social anxieties, that he be limited in attending class functions such as field trips, and outings where he could be taught to interact in social situations. This Plan excluded him from such activities by denying him to go on all day activities outside of the school, by suggesting that he remain at home on said day or if it was raining or snowing, he was not to attend school on those days, as he had anxiety on those days. As we know, this drawn up an between Teacher and Therapist was unacceptable and unlawful. Attorney Saideman assured this school and it's faculty that it was indeed against the law and against Special Needs groups to have such a Plan in place.
Attorney Saideman, my Son, certain members of school faculty and myself, sat down to a meeting of what was and was not acceptable and all that it entailed in this situation and all was resolved.
Ellen Saideman was also instrumental in taking the time to get to know my Son by reading all school records and by including him in our meetings.
We were both appreciative in the assistance and guidance that was offered us by Ellen. She is very knowledgeable, professional and sensitive to the needs of those who cannot speak for themselves.
I would without hesitation, recommend Ellen Saideman in her representation of others in need of her services.

Background: a life insurance company was holding up our lump sum payment because of some technicalities. Another lawyer thought that we may need to fight the insurance company in federal court, which would be expensive and time consuming. That's when we decided to meet with Elizabeth.

First, my sincerest apologies to Chris, Pam, and all the staff for my complete negligence and selfish tardiness in posting these reviews of our experience. My only excuse and defense is that I have been having way too much fun these past few months with the toys I have always hoped for in my “Golden Years” of retirement. I.e. Kubota Tractor, hydraulic dump, flat bed, and now constructing a pole barn to store it.
My wife, I, and our Minnie Aussie departed our Olympia, WA home on the start of a month long retirement “road trip of a lifetime.” On day two we were hit by a drunk driver in Joshua Tree, CA. While we were all relatively unharmed our brand new (3,500 miles) GMC truck was totaled. We returned back to Olympia six days later and asked ourselves, “what the heck just happened and now what?” I sat down and composed a six page narrative of what happened describing what was going on in our lives before, at the time, and after, this horrific incident. At the same time, Leta was searching for a personal injury lawyer. After much debate and settling on two, we flipped a coin and Leta won. I am SO glad she did.
I am confident that this narrative assisted Chris greatly in determining the value of our case and, more importantly, who we are, our history, feelings, dreams, etc. And he was able to achieve this without us ever having hade face to face communication. We did have, however, enjoy many hours on the phone at both the beginning and at the end of our near 18 month association. And none of that time on the phone was created for “billing hours.” It was all on Chris’s dime.
Chris worked tirelessly in communication with both the defendant’s insurance company, as well as ours to obtain the maximum “underinsured motorist” coverage we carry. Ultimately, we were awarded the maximum limits allowable on both policies. We each received two checks, one from the drunk drivers insurance, and one from ours. We just renewed with our insurance and I have not noticed any increase in premium. The only way we could have received more money would have been to go to court with a jury trial. Given our Covid-19 environment and the snail’s pace the court is moving, I believe Chris advised us correctly in accepting the full limit offer. I can never thank this firm enough and would, without hesitancy, recommend them to anyone who has been wrongly injured in the Palm Springs area. I’m still looking forward to footing the bill for a meal at Elmer’s.

We had the misfortune of being 1200 miles and 2 states away from home when we were broadsided by a drunk driver in Feb. 2019. Our new truck was totaled right in the middle of 29 Palms Highway. Our injuries were not life threatening thanks to air bags and other safety features. We found Christopher Vader, who along with his trusted sidekick, Pam Kitchens, handled all the details, medical billing, communicating with insurance adjusters and providing us with frequent updates. When it seemed like we were preparing to settle with all involved parties, the Courts shut down due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Chris remained optimistic and by mid summer we received the maximum payout awarded by the Insurance companies. We couldn't be happier with the process and outcome. Thank you Chris (and Pam)!

I changed lawyers when I decided to go with Stephanie Perini-Hegarty. After seeing how well she explained things when I attended a conference that she spoke at, I felt I needed to have the CEO of my company meet her. I thought that it would be a hardsell to get him to change from having his attorney who was already in place and use Stephanie . However, I thought that it would be worth the try given that she has a natural act for making things that are complicated, simple for clients to understand, as opposed to how confused I felt when the previous attorney explained things and that is if the previous attorney was available. My CEO and my entire U.S. team met with Stephainie and I have to say that it was her competence along with her patience and fairness in compensation that grounded our decision to hire her for our international company. I was referred to Joel Zuckerman by another outstanding lawyer, Stephen Alexander Shechtel (has a perfect 10 rating on Avvo) whom was recommended to me by a trusted friend’s lawyer, Brian Sadur. This friend (a doctor and father), who had experienced an international marriage/divorce with a Japanese national, fully understood the custody challenges involved when divorcing a Japanese National—for context: Japanese culture advocates sole custody to the Japanese parent as the only and safest option for all Japanese (mixed or otherwise) children (hence Japan’s nickname “the black hole of child abduction”). This friend, who despite being a father and non-Japanese, managed to successful win fair custody access to his children against a Japanese mother—therefore his recommendation was clearly sound. Because of gross manipulation and abuse of the courts by my ex-husband’s lawyer, Jessica Markham (read my google review of Jessica Markham for a more thorough understanding of her slimy fermented underskin), I didn’t get the opportunity to follow-up on the recommendation until after my children were kidnapped in Japan from the USA by their father/my-japanese-ex-husband. Shechtel was unable to take on a new case at the time, but he referred me to Joel Zuckerman, who is not only an exceptional lawyer with an intact moral compass (as he took my case knowing I had already extinguished all my funds on legal fees up to that point), but whom also is experienced with complicated international custody cases.
When working on my case, I was blown away by how efficient and concise he worked with his time and communication (being mindful to not waste any of my already depleted funds). He always gave me straight answers (even when he knew it wasn’t the one I wanted to hear) and managed my expectations of what he could or couldn’t do for me. He also worked very fast to meet my fast moving Japanese court deadlines (as my ex always turned in his motions late leaving little time to prepare rebuttals—a shady trick Markham also used in US court). Despite managing my expectations realistically of a low recovery rate with Japan (to date, no non-Japanese parent has ever successfully recovered their child from japan through the Hague convention, and those recovered by other means are estimated to be around 4% in the last 40+ years), he successfully coordinated with my Japanese lawyer, Takao Tanase, to recover my children from parental abduction by means of a Habeas Corpus motion in Tokyo High Court—an insanely difficult task and even more rare feat. I can’t recommend Joel enough to parents in complicated custody battles and feel you won’t find a more hardworking and efficient lawyer with an intact integrity.

Joel Zuckerman represented me during my divorce and support enforcement/recalculation proceedings. I feel extremely fortunate to have had Joel's assistance through one of the most difficult times in my life. He is honest, professional, extremely thorough and well-prepared at all times. He also responds to questions almost instantly, which is very reassuring when your life is turned upside down by divorce. To this day I am impressed by how well he knew the facts of my case, how he checked in on me throughout the process to make sure we were working on long term solutions that would work for my family, and how he zealously protected my interests when I needed it most.
My perspective is somewhat unique. Because of Joel's excellent advocacy, I was able to attend law school after my divorce. I now know that Joel has a reputation for being a hard opponent to beat in court, but is also well-liked within the legal community. This means that Joel is tough when you need him to be, but adheres to professional standards in a way that benefits, not harms, his clients' interests. Additionally, Joel's legal writing and arguments are well researched, clear, and spot on, which goes a long way toward creating successful outcomes for clients.
I can tell you that, both as a client and an (almost) attorney, Joel is one of the best Maryland has to offer. I recommend him to everyone I know because he is hardworking and adept, and I will try to emulate how he treated me as a client when I represent my own clients. What more can I say than that?

I met Mr. Zuckerman by accident. I got a temporary protective order from my ex and I was given the names of 3 attorneys to call. I found Joel Zuckerman on my own without recommendations. I called all 4 attorneys and Mr. Zuckerman was the only one that went above and beyond what I expected. It was my first time going through this and I did not know what to do, think or expect. However, he went directly to the court to get the recording of what my ex told the judge that allowed the judge to grant a temporary protective order. I was impressed. I hired him and during my the protective order hearing he was able to turn everything around. I then hired him for custody because there was an agreement signed that I had no clue of what certain things meant, but he represented me well and I was able to get additional items reverted from the contract I signed.
A few years later I hired him again for custody and we won custody and about $1800/month in child support. He was able to uncover a lot of income my ex was hiding. I couldn't have gone through my custody without him. He is experienced and professional, but most importantly he cares.

Will and his colleagues are outstanding. My mother was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon after being forced to defend herself from an attacker in her home. Will, Steve and their team could not have been more thorough in the time and attention spent on her case. During the actual trial, Steve and Will performed excellently. They had the prosecutor on her heels the entire time. All charges have since been dismissed without prejudice and my mother is home free instead of serving the long prison sentence she was facing. Mrs. Trujillo is someone who is ready to fight for you and will do everything she can to help you.
